You pay into social security your whole life and then being told to wait as late as 70 to take benefits. Then you get the bare minimum of what you paid into. The government hoping you die off before you collect every cent you poured into it. But illegals can come into this country and get thousands of dollars, snap, free medical care, and housing. Seniors can barely pay rent/or taxes on their home. Our country is broken.

No mortgage payment. No lender. Yet they still have to send the county roughly $10,500 every year just to keep living in the home they already paid for. That’s almost $875 a month. At some point, shouldn’t “owning your home” actually mean you own the home? You can finish the mortgage, but you never really finish paying for the right to stay there. That feels backwards.

MY DAD HASN’T HAD A MORTGAGE IN 15+ YEARS, He’s 74. He’s lived in the same house since 1997. No mortgage. No landlord. No rent. But this year, the government wants $6,800 from him just because he owns the property. Last year it was $5,500. That’s a $1,300 increase on someone living mostly on Social Security and a small pension. So what exactly does “owning your home” mean if you can lose it because you can’t keep up with the yearly bill? I honestly don’t understand how we normalized this.

So here’s the question Americans should be asking: If the government can take your property because you stopped paying them, how much of it did you ever truly own? A paid-off home should mean exactly that: PAID OFF.
