Yes, NativeScript runs its JavaScript on the main thread, so a spring stepped by CADisplayLink in TypeScript does what SwiftUI's animations do: each frame's value is computed in the app process and committed to the layer. Nothing goes through the render server. See this side-by-side showing the same interruptible interactions and also this gist for deeper explanation: gist.github.com/NathanWalker…

Love to see NativeScript canvas uses in the wild. It brings joy to my heart as I've been working on this project over 7yrs, adding support for all the drawing APIs (2D- webgpu) the web supports and ensuring it offers top notch performance. I even released a fame built with it.
Some have asked why not develop it in SwiftUI? I actually love Swift in general. The reason I used @NativeScript is because I plan to deploy this to Android foldables as well. Here it is on a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3.

A little peak of the new layout system for @NativeScript powered by Taffy 🦀. The goal bring web-standard syntax to NativeScript with little to no code changes.

This is insane! NativeScript really has no boundaries 😮🤯
Guitar Pocketbook, my first iPhone Duo app. - AVAudioEngine graph in TypeScript - Folding drives the mix (reverb and tone) - Hinge glows with audio frequency - WebGPU (metal) handles all visual fx Built with @NativeScript

Their test compared numbers across different devices and networks. Here's one controlled run: same Pixel 7, release builds, identical 17-case SQLite workload. Somehow, I don't think @mrousavy has anything to worry about here.
I don't think you understand what we did yet with SuperNative @nativephp ... and we're just getting started... 🫣

JSX controlling the computer over Bluetooth Well, your music player can do much more than playing music You just don’t know yet 😜 Fully written in JS
JSX Coverflow running on a MP3 player with only 64MB of memory, purely CPU rendered! @Apple did this pure CPU on the iPod, we did it pure CPU with JavaScript This Hiby R3 Pro Saber DAP by @hiby_music now has a smoother than stock UI with more functionalities available!

Hot-reloading JavaScript is boring news. 🌟 NativeScript 9.1 Now you can hot-reload the native platform itself (APIs, modal controllers, and more) with a new module system built for rapid agentic visual iteration. 🧵

Solid 2.0 🙌 Great work @RyanCarniato et al. Congrats to everyone involved.
🚨 Solid 2.0 has reached Release Candidate! 🎉🥳 Async is first-class — computations return promises, the graph suspends and resumes itself. Plus optimistic mutations and a reactive core rebuilt from scratch. The Big <Reveal> 👇 solidjs.com/blog/solid-2-0-r… 1/3

Replying to @NativeScript
@nativescript feels made for @vercel's scriptc. A quick POC reuses {N}'s core to build native a Android app with a fraction of V8's footprint, with no compromise on speed or platform access That's a huge unlock and iOS could be next. Excited to see where this goes. @rauchg

Try Octane now with NativeScript. How bout with SwiftUI Metal Shaders 🔥
Happy to announce Octane – the successor to Inferno. React’s programming model, compiled. Hooks, Suspense and Actions, compiled ahead of time. No virtual DOM. No Rules of Hooks. No manually maintained dependency arrays. The compiler understands what your code captures and generates the reactivity for you. Octane supports TSX and JSX, along with TSRX for even better DX and performance. It includes integrations for libraries such as TanStack, React Three Fiber, Lynx and StyleX, plus a compatibility layer for using Octane components inside existing React apps. Octane is available in alpha today, with beta coming soon.
