Yeah. I mean, other than following the classical Resident Evil formula of starting as relatively grounded horror and gradually escalating into grotesque sci-fi insanity; featuring a bioweapon outbreak as the catalyst; taking place in Raccoon City; culminating in a secret laboratory; featuring zombies, infected dogs, and increasingly bizarre mutant creatures; having its protagonist start with a basic handgun and progressively acquire bigger and more ridiculous weapons; forcing him to scavenge for ammunition and conserve what little he has; making him rummage through drawers for supplies; confronting him with inexplicably elaborate locks; including typewriters, First-Aid Spray, Green Herbs, and other direct references to game items; occasionally switching into first-person and over-the-shoulder perspectives that mimic the games; sending him through rural environments, city streets, underground areas, a hospital, and finally a laboratory; having Umbrella scientists fucking around with biological weapons; and ultimately transforming its protagonist into a giant Bio-weapon that looks exactly like something you’d fight at the end of a Resident Evil game . . . Yeah, other than all that, it barely had anything to do with the fucking games.
