I understand why people think Savannah is wrong, but I disagree. Where exactly does this obligation end? If she goes shopping and can afford something she can’t, is she supposed to buy hers too? If they go to dinner, is she automatically paying? If they vacation, does she have to upgrade her entire trip? Lol
Friendship doesn’t mean my lifestyle becomes your lifestyle simply because I can afford it. This is how generosity turns into resentment. You do something nice a few times, eventually it becomes expected, and now saying “no” makes you a bad friend.
Savannah being married to a billion doesn’t mean her friends need to be treated like Make a Wish kids every time they’re around them.
It’s a lot of dignity in being able to say, “That’s what you can afford. This is what I can afford but we’re still friends.”
