Dear the @BBC Your biggest problem isn’t a lack of funding. It’s the assumption that funding should be compulsory. If you truly provide a genuinely valuable service, you should be able to make the case for people to support you voluntarily. Extending the licence fee to cover Netflix, YouTube and Amazon would surely be an admission that the current model cannot compete on its own merits. Why should the British people who have deliberately chosen not to watch traditional TV be forced to subsidise an organisation they don’t use? Public service broadcasting has a place, but that doesn’t give any organisation an automatic right to take money from the public. Earn the audience. Earn the funding.
