Don’t bother, it’s just an image of a woman. Get over it.

The Courts and Tribunals Bill goes before peers in the House of Lords today, and the Prime Minister is expected to face a rebellion from Labour peers. Good. This Government, like Sir Keir Starmer’s, is pressing ahead with plans to curtail our right to a jury trial. It is a sinister, authoritarian assault on our criminal justice system and English liberty — particularly on free speech. FSU research has shown that people charged with speech offences are almost twice as likely to be found not guilty in a Crown Court with a jury than in a magistrates’ court without one. Put simply, more people could be banged up for exercising their right to free speech.

Whitehall Inside the BBC: Who Really Shapes the News? For years the BBC has insisted that its journalism is independent of government. Now we learn that serving civil servants have been working inside its newsroom, helping shape coverage of politically sensitive issues in Britain. Migration, crime, elections, Covid and public spending. A woman seconded from the Welsh government during the pandemic acknowledged that her advice had led to BBC news lines being changed and new stories being told. That raises the question: how far should serving government officials be involved in shaping the editorial output of a broadcaster whose independence from the state is supposed to be sacrosanct? Another secondee drafted material on migration and crime statistics. Officials from Defra and other departments helped prepare coverage of Budgets and government figures. These are subjects on which Whitehall has its own institutional interests, preferred explanations and its reputation to protect. Yet civil servants were helping the national broadcaster decide how the numbers should be understood and presented to millions of viewers. The recruitment advert for the 2027 intake sought candidates able to influence decision-making. That wording alone does not prove political interference, but it makes the BBC's blanket assurances deserving of scrutiny. Government statisticians have described helping journalists select figures, develop explanations and shape reports. Some have been credited under BBC News or BBC Verify bylines without their civil service positions being sufficiently clear. The public was entitled to know who was contributing to these stories. Instead, the BBC has promised to amend bylines only after The Telegraph began asking questions. The financial arrangement deepens the concern. The secondees remain on salaries paid by their government departments while working inside the BBC. Taxpayers therefore fund officials who help produce coverage of policies, statistics and controversies involving the institutions employing them. Nobody needs to allege secret instructions from ministers to recognise the conflict this creates. The permanent state is capable of shaping public debate through shared assumptions, professional habits and institutional loyalties. When those responsible for producing official figures also help shape how the national broadcaster explains them, the separation between government and journalism becomes dangerously blurred. Professor Carl Heneghan, director of Oxford University's Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, has questioned whether officials with competing interests can remain impartial. His concern goes to the heart of the matter. A civil servant may act conscientiously, correct genuine errors and still approach a controversy through the assumptions of the institution in which their career has been formed. The BBC argues that statistical expertise improves accuracy and that its journalists retain final editorial control. That defence deserves examination, not automatic acceptance. Who checked the secondees' contributions? Who decided which interpretations were challenged? And how often did advice from Whitehall change the story that reached the public? Thirty-nine civil servants have passed through this scheme in eight years. The BBC now promises greater disclosure while maintaining that editorial independence was never compromised. But independence requires more than an assurance from the institution whose conduct is being questioned. It requires visible safeguards, honest attribution and scrutiny of how stories are produced. As ministers consider extending compulsory BBC funding to streaming households, the public discovers that serving officials have been helping shape its news. The corporation asks Britain to trust its independence. It must now explain why serving officials from Whitehall were helping shape its journalism, and why the public was not clearly told who they were.

American an European friends, I’m so ashamed, but you need to see what France has become. Don’t make the same mistakes we did. The only peaceful solution is to send them back to their countries of origin they love so much. We cannot coexist. It will be them, or us.

It is not surprising that of all media outlets, Dr. Stephen Brearey has chosen to speak with the BBC. It is also not surprising that 'special correspondent' Judith Moritz managed to ask him precisely zero challenging questions. We were informed before the interview that Moritz has been following the case for several years. This really begs the question of how she has managed to do this while seemingly learning virtually nothing. A bare minimum requirement for any credible journalist would be to ask Brearey about the needle aspiration. Not for one second did I expect this question to be asked, and of course I wasn't disappointed! While the BBC coverage of this issue has been, entirely predictably, insipid, witless and heavily establishment-leaning, they did at least broadcast the Radio 4 documentary which revealed that the Countess of Chester Hospital was guilty of shambolic care in the case of several mothers and infants. You might think that this would have been raised, not least because the discussion was being broadcast on literally the same radio station. Of course not! Anyone listening to anything Moritz has to say, or reading anything she writes, would have no idea that Radio 4 programme was ever broadcast. This was barely even an interview. It was a touch-feely, emotionally-driven puff piece, with no meaningful probing, which didn't even meet the crudest baseline for what could reasonably be described as 'journalism'. #LucyLetby #LucyLetbyInnocent

#r4today in full State operator mode this morning. Lucy Letby is innocent. Dr Brearly sounding nervous. Bigging up the Thirlwell report which is a complete waste of time and money focussing on the wrong questions. No probing by the BBC presenter. Poor journalism.

Britain Can Find £88 Million for Palestine. Its Army Is Told to Find £30 Million in Cuts There are moments when two government announcements, placed side by side, tell you more about political priorities than a hundred speeches. Britain has committed more than £88 million this financial year to humanitarian and early recovery support for Palestinians. At home, the British Army has reportedly been ordered to find savings of around £30 million, with major training exercises suspended and reservists losing service days. Read those figures again. £88 million for Palestine. £30 million squeezed from the training of the men and women whose first responsibility is defending Britain. The package forms part of a wider £127 million bilateral aid allocation for Palestine in 2026/27, intended for healthcare, clean water, sanitation, waste management and rehabilitation for children injured in the conflict. Those are stated humanitarian purposes, and money earmarked for a hospital is not the same as money handed to a militia. But that distinction has a history of not holding. The Palestinian Authority already runs a payment scheme, worth over $300 million a year, that rewards convicted terrorists according to sentence length. In Gaza, donors from the EU to Qatar have watched their own materials, water pipes, concrete, fuel, repurposed into rocket casings and tunnel networks, with Hamas leaders openly admitting as much on camera. Money is fungible. Aid that frees up funds for a hospital frees up other funds for something else entirely. Britain has no serious mechanism to guarantee that £88 million stays confined to bandages and water pumps. Meanwhile the Army is being asked to save roughly one third of that sum, at the exact moment Europe faces its gravest security environment in decades. Defence officials have warned the measures risk weakening Britain's military credibility. Ukraine has shown what modern industrial warfare actually consumes in men, ammunition and armour. NATO wants greater readiness. Somewhere inside Whitehall, someone still decided that training exercises were the place to find £30 million. The government will say these are different budgets. Of course they are. Treasury accounting can put money into whatever departmental boxes ministers choose. The taxpayer has only one pocket, and that taxpayer is not in a generous mood. Real wages have barely moved in years, mortgage costs remain painful, energy bills are soaring, and household budgets are stretched thin enough that asking people to accept squeezed defence spending while £88 million heads abroad, to a territory whose governing bodies have a documented record of diverting aid toward violence, is a harder sell than ministers seem to appreciate. It's also worth asking what recipients of British generosity, more broadly, actually think of the country supplying it. Britain's aid budget flows disproportionately toward states and territories where Western values are treated with open contempt, and where women's basic freedoms are routinely stripped away by law. That's not a reason to abandon every humanitarian instinct. It is a reason to stop pretending gratitude, partnership or shared values are guaranteed to follow the cheque. A government has countless responsibilities, but one precedes all the others: defence of the realm. Without security, everything else is academic. Britain can afford compassion abroad. It cannot afford compassion abroad purchased through diminished readiness at home, financed by a public already struggling to make ends meet, and directed toward institutions with a track record of letting aid slip toward the wrong hands. If ministers can commit £88 million to Palestine, they should explain to British soldiers why finding £30 million for their training has apparently become too difficult, and to British taxpayers why their patience is the resource nobody in Whitehall thought worth budgeting for.

Of course Sam Nicoresti thinks women’s sexuality is his to control. Of course he thinks women’s sports are funny. Of course he thinks nothing of taking a top TV spot after winning a comedy prize - which was derisive of women’s experiences. He thinks women are a joke because he hates them. He sits pretending to be one knowing absolutely no one believes him. There is nothing more hateful than that. One day I hope the idiots clapping him for it need to apologise to women. Especially the woman @Roisinconaty sat there selling us out. Ffs - he’s not even funny. (Via @Gaynotqueer1) x.com/Gaynotqueer1/status/21…

Janice Turner "This is how to radicalise Middle England The women of Piddington feel threatened by the arrival of 1,250 bored young men, but have been told to ‘do their bit’ When a Piddington resident asked local police how women should prepare for 1,250 male asylum seekers being housed close to her village, they replied: “Take precautions.” What, she wondered, did that mean: don’t look at strangers, lock yourself in, don’t go out after dark? The officers could not say. For decades feminists have argued for women’s right to go where they please, at any hour, wearing what they choose. The onus should not be on women to “take precautions” but on men not to rape or assault them, on the government to uphold their liberty and on the police to keep them safe" The Times archive.today/EAfbb

Can someone please explain why middle-aged-white women support Hamas?
This extremist tried to stop the tapestry being photographed. The reason is now clear. It contains multiple murderous terrorist names. This woman was from the co promoters Leeds Palestinian Film Festival who shamefully decieved a church into displaying the names of terrorists

I’ve seen this picture several times over the last few days, and every time it hits as hard as the first. The juxtaposition says everything. In the West, a woman can become an Archbishop. In Islam women are being reduced to anonymous figures buried beneath black, head-to-toe coverings. You couldn’t ask for a clearer illustration of two radically different visions of women’s place in society. And yet in the West, we’re constantly told we must embrace every culture as though every culture is interchangeable with our own, and as though there are no meaningful differences between them. Well, no. They’re not all the same. And I refuse to believe that treating women like this is something we should simply accept as normal or okay.

#NHS healthcare unions have remained silent on the frame-up conviction of Lucy Letby. But this silence only makes it so much more difficult for other nurses and healthcare workers to speak up when they see something is wrong and this has a direct impact on patient care. These union really need to join this fight! #LucyLetby #RCN

They laughed when Nick Shirley exposed the Minnesota daycare fraud. $250 million. Then $9 billion. Ghost children. Fake meal programs. Tax money, paying for phantom Somali toddlers while real American kids went without. "That's America," they said. "Couldn't happen here." Couldn't it? Meet the new British ruling class. Miatta Fahnbulleh, Secretary of State for Energy. Her father served as Foreign Minister to Samuel Doe, the Liberian military dictator who seized power in a coup, executed the President, and presided over mass killings. Her grandfather convicted of treason for plotting to overthrow the government. While she sits in Cabinet, the Serious Fraud Office investigates a £44 million fraud in the energy efficiency sector her own brief. False invoices. Ghost insulation schemes. Our money vanished into thin air. She remains in post. In fact, she was promoted. The bloodline is regime change. The portfolio is British energy policy. The result is £44 million missing on her watch. Sagal Abdi-Wali, tipped to replace Keir Starmer in Holborn. Somali refugee. Camden Council leader. Product of the same ecosystem that just produced $9 billion in fraud across Minnesota. The pattern is identical. The funding flows from establishment coffers to ethnically-based organizations with zero accountability. Consultancy fees paid by councils to their own councillors. The incestuous corruption of diversity politics. She will swear no oath to this country. She will represent Gaza and Somalia while sitting in a British constituency. We are merely taxpayers to be harvested. Ilhan Omar would be proud. While Trump puts America first and closes the fraud pipelines, Britain opens its veins. The same networks. The same schemes. The same ghost children, phantom providers, and disappeared millions. But here, questioning it is "racism." In Minnesota, they arrested 87 people. Here, we promote them. The Labour Party is not a British political movement anymore. It is a foreign asset a mechanism for transferring wealth from British workers to global grievance merchants with their hands in the till and their loyalty elsewhere. We are not citizens to them. We are cattle to be milked. Nick Shirley proved the playbook exists. The only question is whether Britain has the courage to open its eyes before the last penny is gone.
Good morning Holborn & St Pancras! ☀️ It was great to speak to so many of you this morning on your commute to work about the hope our Labour candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali will bring to the community 🌹
