Where do people go when they don't want to live but are hesitant to die? I first wrote this in 2022 when I was struggling with postnatal depression. Hopefully it resonates today. CW: depression, suicidal ideation, various types of death, gallows humour jacksonpbrown.com/scribbles/…

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

"Several bestselling Big Five authors say their relationships with publishers have suffered over the past year due to AI use... ....One bestselling author says they received marketing copy that included AI-hallucinated quotes from their book, but the publisher insisted they were not AI-generated. “I was gaslit on all of it,” the author says. During a recent round of contract negotiations, another bestselling author says they could not get a single Big Five publisher to promise no AI would be used in any way on their books."
Workers tell WIRED that NOA—or “No Ordinary Assistant”—was unhelpful. Bestselling authors also say AI is ruining their relationships with Big Five publishers. buff.ly/eIHTMUa

Not the first time I've seen a video like this from these two. I think it's time they rethink their channel. They had a whole Bible study after Invincible, dropped Fire Force, and were so uncomfortable with Tsubaki from Windbreaker. These shows just aren't for them anymore.
Can’t root for Asta because hes christian?? Yall im dead😭😭

Not even trying to judge but whenever clips of their channel come on here it's because of the same thing. At some point they have to accept that they can't handle "worldy" fiction. These random Bible chats at the end do nothing. Time to start reacting to The Chosen.

A *Lot* more people should be feeling fucking disturbed at a Government with a Huge majority, & their media mates, looking over a poverty ridden, crumbling society, desperate for change, but dedicating All their time to destroying anyone & everyone who isn’t Loyal to Israel.

Has anyone moaning about Oxford St actually tried to drive there? It's a nightmare. If it crops up on the satnav I always find another route because that road will make me LATE. And as a pedestrian it's worse. Why are people fighting to sit in traffic?

And this is exactly why it's right to ban cyclists too. Totally defeats the purpose of a pedestrianised high st if you still have to duck and dive between bikes and commuter cycle lanes. They'd get in the way. This looks safe.
