🚨🎙️ PATRICE EVRA ON CHELSEA UPCOMING TOTTENHAM DERBY:
🎤 Reporter: “Patrice, Chelsea face Tottenham next. Do you think Chelsea are genuine title contenders, and how important will that game be?”
🗣️ Patrice Evra:
“Honestly, I think Chelsea fans are getting carried away with themselves.
First, let’s talk about Cole Palmer. Everybody talks about him like he’s the answer to every problem Chelsea have. He’s a talented player, yes, but I want to see whether Chelsea can win consistently when Palmer isn’t the one making the difference.
You cannot build an entire team around hoping one player produces magic every week. If Chelsea want to compete for the biggest trophies, the whole team needs to take responsibility.
And now they have Tottenham coming up.
This is where things get interesting because Chelsea fans love talking about how much better their team is than Tottenham. Fine! Stop talking and prove it on the pitch.
A London derby is not won by followers on social media. It’s not won by transfer fees or by telling everybody how talented your squad is. It’s won by the players who turn up on the day.
If Chelsea lose, I already know what will happen. Some fans will blame the manager, others will blame the referee, and somebody will probably tell us that Cole Palmer wasn’t fit enough.
But if Chelsea win, suddenly they’ll be talking about winning the Premier League again!
That is the problem with football fans today. One result makes their team world-class, and the next result makes everybody useless.
Now, let’s talk about Xabi Alonso.
He’s under pressure to show that Chelsea are building something serious. You cannot keep talking about a project forever. At some point, the football has to improve, the team has to become consistent, and the trophies have to follow.
Chelsea have invested heavily in their squad. The expectations are high, and the manager has to find a way to turn that talent into a team that can compete every week.
I’m not saying Chelsea cannot win trophies. I’m saying they still have something to prove.
And here’s what Chelsea fans will hate me for saying:
I want to see Chelsea beat Tottenham convincingly before I start listening to all this talk about being back among England’s elite.
Because if you really believe your team is superior, these are the games where you must show it.
No excuses. No hiding. No spending the entire week arguing online.
Go out there and win!
And Chelsea fans, please don’t tell me Tottenham are a small club when you’re the ones making this derby such a big deal. If Tottenham are so far behind you, prove it!
Cole Palmer must deliver, Xabi Alonso must get his tactics right, and Chelsea must show that their ambitions are more than just social media noise.
Otherwise, we will keep having the same conversation every season.
Chelsea fans can call me a hater if they want. I don’t care.
The question isn’t whether Chelsea have talented players. The question is whether they have a team capable of delivering when the pressure is on.
Let’s see what happens against Tottenham!”
