When I saw the Nova music festival site, the impact of October 7th hit home. Three years on, the violence continues, and we have seen an appalling rise in antisemitism here and around the world. We must stand with the Jewish community, stamp out antisemitism, and work for peace.

Three years on from 7 October, we remember all those murdered, the hostages and their families. In February, LDFI visited kibbutz Kfar Aza and the Nova festival site, with Liberal Democrat MPs and advisers, and met Nova survivor Rafaela Treistman. We must never forget.

Camden Lib Dem group leader Cllr Tom Simon and parliamentary candidates Patrick Stillman and Katie Mansfield: 'With these votes, the Green Party has crossed a line. The rights to manifest one’s religion and of freedom of association are fundamental human rights, and these are now at risk. 'In the Liberal Democrats, we will continue to speak up for the values of liberty, equality and community. We will continue to call for the bold, urgent action needed to tackle climate change. We will make welcome any real Greens who choose to join us.'
The fallout from Green Party conference in Camden is continuing. The Liberal Democrats had been due to work with the Greens to set up a cross-party climate emergency taskforce - announced at last council meeting. That arrangement looks like it now won’t happen as both Lib Dems and Tories won’t work with Greens after ‘Zionism is racism’ motion was passed.

Jews have the right to live safely, securely and openly in this country. @LibDems support a safe and secure Israel, alongside an independent Palestinian state, as part of a two-state solution.

I am angry that @TheGreenParty have passed a motion that alienates so many in the Jewish community, both here in Richmond Park and across London. Their right to live safely, securely and openly matters.

British Jews are rightly horrified by events at the Green Party conference - I am too. I’ve written to the EHRC alongside @LibDems colleagues @mariecgoldman and @ZoeFranklinLD to ask whether the Green Party’s new policy is a breach of the Equality Act.

I don’t understand @swklibdems @VMMChamberlain how you think this greenwash is an adequate response to the Greens’ antisemitic ‘Zionism is racism’ motion, from which I believe you should entirely distance yourselves

The Green Party has never called for any other existing state to be abolished, just the world’s only Jewish one. Extremism in action.

Zionism is not racism. We are appalled to see the Green Party adopt this motion. The Liberal Democrats are a Zionist party, committed to Israel’s right to exist alongside a Palestinian state. The party are also leading on environmental issues, as the Greens claim to do.

The Green Party motion stokes anti-Jewish hatred and does nothing to combat antisemitism or islamaphobia. Turning to the extremes is no way to bring people together or help people feel safer. We stand with our British Jewish friends and neighbours.

Thanks for this opp to refute your silly points. As VP of @_LDFI I believe in a secure Israel. But not in Bibi; I support our LD ally @yairlapid. I also back a Pal state & on my trip this year met the Mayor of Ramallah. I am not racist towards anyone. I am not indoctrinated.
Replying to @SarahLudford
You became an anti Palestinian racist by choice and not because you were indoctrinated?

I am a Zionist. I believe in the Jewish people’s right to a state in our homeland, in our right to live in peace and security. As we prepare to mark three years since the October 7th massacre, the UK Green Party has chosen to side with terrorists and antisemites. It is not Zionism that’s racism, it is the Green Party.

I will do everything I can to ensure that we work cross party to achieve measures to ensure communities are safe and feel secure.
The Green Party decision today is a disgrace and its position now an extremist one. There is a long history to this debate and it always manifests as abuse of Jews. I fear for what is to come. Whether the motion will pass the legal tests that will no doubt follow is to be seen but any party which fails to pass an amendment seeking to enhance safety for its Jewish members should be doing some deep soul searching. Disgusting.

I find #GreenParty motion declaring Zionism as Racism frightening. Anti semitism in this country is growing and this will fan the flames of social incohesion.

It's not good enough for the Greens to try to brush this off. Fanning the flames of division makes them no better than Farage. I've worked locally with Green cllrs who will be appalled. I'm sure some will be considering if they can remain in the party. theguardian.com/politics/202…

I feel profoundly sad for the Greens that joined a party thinking they were going to be environmentalists and have found themselves surrounded by antisemitism. I am also appalled at the cowardice displayed by their leader, who chose not to lead, but to hide. If you’re a Green Party member and your political foundation is rooted in equality for all, as well as being a proud custodian of our natural world, you can find your political home in the Liberal Democrats.

Today’s decision by the Green Party is deeply wrong. @timfarron nails it: this represents a deeply harmful failure of judgement.
That the antisemitic entryists who have captured the Green Party, are being antisemitic, is no surprise. That the Party Leader skipped this vote and failed to use his authority to argue against them, is an astonishing act of weakness. Real Greens are welcome in the Lib Dems…
