23 September 2026 | The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) welcomed H.E. David Thomas, Namibian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, for a strategic engagement focused on opportunities to strengthen Namibia–Zimbabwe trade, investment and logistics connectivity. Discussions explored areas of collaboration to promote Namibia as a preferred Logistics Hub for the SADC Region, in line with the objectives of NDP6, while strengthening the Walvis Bay Corridors as efficient trade routes connecting regional markets to the Port of Walvis Bay. Particular attention was given to the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, which connects the Port of Walvis Bay through Botswana to Zimbabwe, as well as opportunities to strengthen rail connectivity between Namibia and Zimbabwe to support more efficient and integrated regional freight movement. The engagement also explored opportunities to advance trade between Namibia and Zimbabwe, further strengthening economic linkages and access to international markets through the Walvis Bay Corridors. From 19 – 23 September, the Walvis Bay Corridor Group Wellness Service brought Wellness and Health Screening Services closer to Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) across Omusati and Ohangwena Regions. Through these engagements, AGYW had access to health information, screening and wellness services in a convenient and supportive environment, while creating opportunities for young women to access information and services that can contribute to their overall health and well-being. A day of wellness in Rehoboth. On 19 September, the WBCG Wellness Services team joined hands with MPower Community Trust to bring health and wellness screening closer to the Rehoboth community. From checking blood pressure and other key health indicators to sharing information and answering questions, the day was about creating a simple opportunity for people to pause, check in on their health and learn more about taking care of themselves. For us, community wellness is about meeting people where they are and making preventative healthcare more accessible. On 17 September | The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) participated in the Financial Security Framework Awareness Session held in Walvis Bay, in conjunction with the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) and the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport), which focused on strengthening customs compliance, revenue protection, and trade facilitation. The engagement was to create awareness ahead of NamRA’s piloting of the Customs Financial Security Framework at Walvis Bay which is set to run from 1 December 2026 to 28 February 2028. The session provided valuable insights into the proposed financial security mechanism, its application, and how it will support a more transparent, risk-based customs process. 16-17 September 2026 | The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) participated in the Africa Mining Summit 2026, held in Gaborone, Botswana, with Mr. Irvaan Maharaj, Business Development Manager: South Africa, representing WBCG. The Summit provided a strategic platform to engage directly with mining houses, investors, commodity companies, transport and logistics providers, suppliers and other key industry stakeholders, with a focus on identifying opportunities to grow cargo volumes through Namibia’s ports and corridors. Through targeted engagements and structured Business-to-Business (B2Bs) meetings, WBCG explored potential mine-to-port and mine-to-market logistics opportunities across commodities including copper, coal, manganese, iron ore and other minerals. Discussions focused on how emerging and existing mining projects and commodity flows could be connected to Walvis Bay and Lüderitz through integrated road, rail, port, shipping and freight-forwarding solutions. The engagements also created opportunities to develop potential cargo pipelines, strengthen business relationships and identify strategic partners across the mining and logistics value chain. With the Trans-Kalahari Corridor providing a direct route linking Walvis Bay–Windhoek–Gaborone–Johannesburg/Pretoria, and Zimbabwe, WBCG continues to position Namibia as an Atlantic gateway to international markets, offering mining and commodity businesses an alternative route with potential advantages in time efficiency, cost competitiveness, reliability and market access. Working alongside the @_WBCG , @MOHSSNamibia1, Omusati Regional Council, Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, and Ministry of Gender, Equality and Social Welfare, the outreach provided learners with access to health information and services covering HIV and STI prevention, PrEP and PEP, family planning, HIV testing, GBV, consent, their right to say no, Abstinence and Condom use. Learners also received information on malaria, Tuberculosis (TB), HPV and Cervical Cancer, including the importance of HPV vaccination and screening. As part of the outreach, 205 Dignity Packs containing essential menstrual hygiene and sanitation products were distributed to young girls in need, supporting their health, dignity and continued participation in school.

15 and 17 September 2026 | The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) hosted its Logistics Hub Working Group meetings in Walvis Bay and Windhoek, respectively, bringing together key stakeholders to review progress, address operational matters and advance strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening Namibia’s trade and logistics ecosystem. The quarterly Working Group meetings provide a platform to assess progress, share updates and coordinate actions on key outcomes. These engagements demonstrate the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration and coordinated action in addressing infrastructure, operational, border management and capacity-development priorities across Namibia’s logistics value chain. Notable achievements reported during the meetings include: > Advancement of the Namport port gate works; > Implementation of Pre-clearance procedures and awareness on Accredited Economic Operators (AEO) to enhance efficiency; > Progress on the Karibib- Usakos road construction project; > Completion of the Trans Kalahari Railway Project feasibility study, with project now advancing to Phase 2: engagement of private partner; > Appointment and engagement of Consultant for Trans Zambezi Railway Project; > Capacity Development- Introduction of a PHD course at NUST in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
