Consciousness runs on a realtime os with a very low resolution scheduler
Replying to @doristsao
8/ At the single-neuron level, we found that cells concertedly switched their tuning every 60 ms, from representing the conscious face to the suppressed face. Thus the same population of neurons represent both what you’re aware of and what you’re not, at different moments of time.

Warren with (yet another) banger. TIL a single render target can output two colors!! Who knew. Not me. I did not know.
It's unfortunate that in 2026 it's still so hard to get ImGui to play nice with sRGB render targets. Fortunately, I developed a couple of novel techniques to work around it. New on Metal by Example: Dual-Source Blending metalbyexample.com/dual-sour…

KodeLife real-time GPU shader editor update! We've got a brand new video playback engine for all platforms (now also including Android!) and a ton of smaller fixes and improvements! Mandelbulb from 'Galvanize' by Jochen 'Virgill' Feldkoetter, one of the included demo projects.

fabric.graphics is getting a fun new plugin: any triangulated geometry can now be shattered using Voronoi Fracturing. Choose the impact point, impact size, and control the resulting mess. Fast enough to run realtime and works with convex and concave geometry.

I dunno if its just because I'm token poor, but the latest tranche of frontier models seem so fucking retarded to me. The code they produce is so inelegant, stupid, & violates so many basic principles of engineering it blows my mind. Such poorly factored and confused "thinking".

The fact people are glazing this shit explains the state of the world writ large. Folks, you do understand that well factored code bases make it EASIER for agents and humans alike? You do understand that just saying 'make better' is paperclip-apocalypsing your product?

Im all for augmented programming (and creativity) but can we please use our fucking brains, keep our wits about us? First principles don't go away just because a few more monkeys can type faster and slightly more legibly.

Some Fabric fun coming soon: * Fast Depth / Depth Contouring nodes * Media Pipe nodes * Track Anything Node with a click / Semantic Segmentation Optimized in metal - all work together at interactive rates, here on M1, with enough headroom for effects / compositing and more.

Imagine if Democrats were as organized as Destiny players - the fact that some rowdy gamer nerds were able to get Sony and Bungie to put their tail between their legs and apologize profusely gives you a pretty clear idea of what organized movements can via direct action...

A new commission for the @nytopinion just dropped: "A.I. Is a Threat, but Not in the Way You Think" @tressiemcphd. What a treat to see a nod to Eryk Salvaggio too. Big thanks to @jmwender for bringing me on board. nytimes.com/2026/09/19/opini…

Now @ 0.6ms with 3d geometry reprojection :)
Now at 0.3 - 0.5 ms / frame for Face Detect, Crop, 468 Keypoint Detection, Hand Detect, Crop, Hand Keypoint Detection, including video processing full screen drawing and 1 euro filter smoothing / data processing and more. Not bad on an old M1 :)

This picture should make everyone feel physically sick. 🥹 Every single tree in Borneo is habitat for THOUSANDS of species. You cant understand how biodiverse tropical rainforests are until you’ve visited. 🌳🦧🦋 Literally a million animals to zero when it’s burnt for palm oil!😭

Theres something so satisfying about optimization: Using some compute techniques and optimized models, and a custom MPS metal graph, Fabric will have sub 1ms hand pose tracking (on M1 Max) - meaning vision is 'free' at 120Hz with room to spare: Why is CoreML / Vision so slow..?

This is so funny to me - the majority of my CoreML inference time is in.. logging? String allocation? What are we doing folks?
