that the probe is focussing on a call made by IIT-B student Sahil at 2:30 PM. At that time the victim spoke to his girlfriend and told her: “Mujhse galti ho gayi hai.” He also said his earlier Thermodynamics paper had not gone well and that he was confused and under stress. She asked him to stay calm, be patient and focus on his next papers. Crucially, there was no mention of any caste-related conversation during the call. This was the girlfriend’s last phone call with him. He stopped taking her calls thereafter.

A family caught a thief in their home; the thief even confessed, saying his two companions ran away leaving him there alone. I have told this story before. A schoolmate threatened to file an SC/ST atrocities case against me for not including him in a high school reunion planning team. I never knew his caste though we were in a boarding school for 7 years. He was planning to file a similar case saying I told him he is not in because of his caste. Fortunately, there were other members in the group who belonged to the same caste.
I understand it is hard for a parent to admit that their son is a cheat. Why throw an innocent man under the bus?
