The right crypto wallet setup is not obvious. Here’s what I use for my family: accounts split by purpose, 2-of-5 email recovery, and no key-man risk.

Family wallet setup

I recently fixed my family wallet setup. While getting it configured, two things stood out: The "right setup" is not straightforward, and Many of my friends and peers face the same thing Below is what

smart contract security is disruptive new contracts are really scary / hard for customers to use [bc hacks are ~unrecoverable], but they gain lindiness with usage over time that can't be matched by closed source / offchain code. Passive vs active security, upfront and fixed vs ongoing and variable, etc sunlight is the best disinfectant

as intelligence gets cheaper, security shifts from controlling who can inspect your system to building systems that can withstand unlimited inspection. this is one of the megatrends pushing value onchain into open source code - it'll be too expensive to do otherwise. as the code becomes public, the private key is the security boundary.
More value will end up secured by open source code running on open networks - cheap intelligence accelerates this transition. This means your opsec around private key management becomes increasingly important. Some thoughts and best practices we’re seeing.

Opsec is hard. Every setup sits somewhere between too hard to use and too weak to trust. We've spent the past few years building self-custody wallets. Between using our own product and talking with

Loving that @0xSplits built a treasury product with the accountant in mind. In my experience, folks that use onchain treasury management solutions tend to silo their finops there, so having more beef on the accounting & transaction reporting means we don't need to employ a subledger solution out the gate.
One wallet. Thousands of transactions. But can your accountant tell what they were for? We teamed up with @0xSplits on a practical guide to automating your onchain operations from accounting and tax first principles. Less work for you, better records for your accountant. darienadvisors.co/insights/s…

if you're building on @bankrbot, come check out what we're building for you @0xSplits - fee claims - auto swaps - revenue processing - accounting - shared wallets
Have seen this at least twice, so would like to make a PSA to @bankrbot devs. If you are implementing a fee recipient contract to manage fees for your project, you 1000% need to implement functions that let you change the fee recipient, AND handle claimed tokens. Alternately use @0xSplits. @abram and team are awesome and have a bunch of implementations specifically for this usecase.

did a little write up on how i use @0xSplits personally as a consumer
It's wild but somehow when building onchain banking @0xSplits casually built the best consumer wallet experience I've seen

Cost basis tracking is coming to Splits next week Get started: app.splits.org
The worst part of owning, using, and working in crypto is the taxes, right? Next week, cost basis tracking comes to @0xSplits. Buy, swap, trade, and stake in Splits, then download a gains and losses report you can hand to your accountants. No extra setup.

the walkaway test is important for many reasons. a big one: it allows for a fundamentally better cost structure.
the @0xSplits nested account ownership model means your primary account controls all the accounts beneath it - so you can access your accounts and assets on any network, including ones we don’t yet support in the app. a customer received assets on @Plasma this morning and (with some help from codex) 15 mins later had bridged them back to their home network. _this_ is permissionless finance - open source, keys you control. let’s not confuse “non-custodial” with “the provider promises they can’t take your assets.” the real test: can you access and move your assets without the provider?

you can't confidently delegate to an agent without attribution and an audit trail. this is why git with agents is so great. and also why you shouldn't give an agent your personal signing key, credit card, etc. agents should get scoped, revocable permissions, not human credentials.

two basic financial sovereignty tests every business should consider re counterparty risks: 1/ can your provider take your money without your approval? 2/ can you access your money without your provider?
