Since Independence, people of MMR - Nalasopara to Palghar, Navi Mumbai (Vashi to Panvel), Thane+ (Thane to Kalyan/Karjat/Kasara) - have been travelling to T1 without complaints @ ₹1000+ travel cost.
1942-built port closed for upgrade is minor inconvenience for 5 years.
Its ok.
Woke up to the news of Mumbai shutting it's Domestic airport Terminal 1. Every day it seems authorities brainstorm on how to make lives of people here tougher. Man, loved that airport. There's something about small airports that feel so accessible and convenient. Like you could take a rickshaw to that airport. Ab jao bc Navi Mumbai ko. Kills of literally one of the few remaining good things about Mumbai.
