I’m very grateful for the time you spent to thoughtfully respond to my questions and the article you wrote and shared.
Based on your online witness, I have known you to be a faithful brother, and your biblical-based approach to this conversation has reinforced that. I agree with it BECAUSE it is scriptural.
AND
For context, I will only speak to the US, but there has been evidence of active well-funded strategically subversive elements outside and within the body of Christ creating confusion and steering faithful Christians away from stewardship. These influence operations use demoralization as a strategy to push an agenda forward and influence Christians out of engaging at all.
Many Christians in the US (myself included for much of my life) have been naive to these influences, likely because we grew up with the sedation of cultural Christianity.
There of course is also obvious steering believers and nonbelievers into far-left and far-right activism.
The “Christian nationalist” framing is a weapons-grade phrase used here and reinforced by our media. The phrase is used to shame and mock Christians who are patriots. It lumps them in with far-right activists and some pastors have (I believe dangerously) embraced and identified with the term, because they were being called it anyway whether they were or not.
Because on this linguistic, to a non-Christian, faithful patriotic Christians are framed by media as basically nazis and associated with evil.
So because of these influence operations on all sides, when believers within the church use the “Christian nationalist” phrase, there is an immediate need to get clarity of what they mean when they use it.
It helps get clarity on what shepherds are faithful, who is parroting the language without understanding the influences and who are the narrative creators steering the church.
To you, I would give you encouragement and cheer you on as you stay on the wall. I’m so grateful for pastors all over the world who share the gospel of and are faithful to God and His word.
I pray to the Father that you would receive such an incredible blessing that would surprise you with joy that you would immediately know it was from the Father.
