Chairman of 3 of tech's leading conferences — AI (@raisesummit), robotics (@Machinasummit) & digital assets (@parisblockweek)

Conferences aren’t about stages. They’re about engineered collisions between the right people. We are building those collisions at scale. Stay tuned for the next gen of tech events.

One of Michael Moritz's best stories on obsession is about the ride he got from Bill Gates when Microsoft was still private. "Bill Gates gave me a ride to the airport in his car. The radio was missing in the car, a big, gaping hole in the dashboard. I said, Bill, what happened to you, did you get ripped off? And he said no, I had it taken out. Why'd you have it taken out? Well, I drive from my home to the office, which is 7 minutes and 32 seconds, and then I'll drive from the office to the airport, which is however long. And he said if I've got the radio, I'm afraid that I'll switch it on and I won't be thinking about Microsoft. That's obsession."
My conversation with Michael Moritz, one of the great venture investors of the last 40 years. Michael joined Sequoia in 1986 and co-led the firm with Doug Leone (@dougleone) from 1995 to 2012. His investments include Google, Yahoo, PayPal, and Stripe. His new book, Ausländer, traces his parents' escape from Nazi Germany and helps explain his lifelong interest in what shapes exceptional people. We discuss: - The infamous Steve Jobs profile - Why Don Valentine hired him - The question he finds most revealing when interviewing people - Monomania and the cost of greatness - Why he has never felt good at anything - Writing, journalism and AI - What he learned about himself writing Ausländer I'd recommend watching this one if you can. Michael was incredibly thoughtful and reflective throughout, particularly when talking about his parents, childhood, and the more difficult parts of his personal story. Enjoy! Travis Kalanick says entrepreneurs need pissed-off energy: "When you get into your 3rd and 4th, this may be even my 5th at this point, company, you get fricking really good at doing stuff." "Things that used to take me a day or 3 days, a lot of stress, anxiety, like how am I gonna do this, take me like 45 minutes." "I'm so used to adversity at this point that it's kind of normal, so I don't get as pissed off. But being pissed off makes you good as an entrepreneur, so I gotta make sure I'm still fired up." "You get too used to adversity, and that's kind of a problem." @travisk @bhorowitz
Travis Kalanick: "A lot of folks think I'm back. I've been working my ass off the whole time. I just haven't been talking about it." Eight years, thousands of employees, multiple industries, none of it on LinkedIn, and now the biggest check Ben Horowitz has ever written. @travisk joins @bhorowitz and @eriktorenberg for a fireside chat to discuss Atoms: an industrial AI company that sees manufacturing, real estate, and logistics as the CPU, storage, and network of the physical world: 00:00 Intro 01:30 The Uber video from 10 years ago 04:26 Bits, atoms, and the three computing primitives 07:37 Can a delivered meal cost less than the grocery store? 10:16 Standing next to a TCP packet 11:59 Ride-sharing was the gold medal.

For two days in July, Paris held the people deciding how the next era of technology gets built. 9,000+ attendees from 90 countries. 350+ speakers. 200+ sponsors. 822 CEOs. 80%+ of participants at C-suite or decision-making level. 168 Fortune 500, CAC 40, FTSE 100, DAX and S&P 500 companies represented. Over $600B in AUM in the building. Leaders from @Google, @Meta, @Lovable, @OpenAI, @Broadcom, @MistralAI, @IREN_Ltd, @cognition, @FireworksAI_HQ, and hundreds more were on the floor and on the stage, setting the agenda for the next decade of AI. @mcuban, @ylecun, @sk7037, @arthurmensch, and @manojnair among the voices that defined the programme. The verdict from the room speaks for itself. "The size of the conference has tripled since last year, and the calibre of speakers has actually improved. And so, it's literally the best AI conference in the world." — Helena Chao, @BankofAmerica. "There is so much room for success, and the need for collaboration is going to be significant. And I think that's going to really take an ecosystem. There's not going to be any one company, Google included, that can solve the problems up and down the stack. So it's going to require tremendous collaboration to make it all happen." - @AminVahdat, @Google Amin is right. No single company solves the stack. Which is precisely what RAISE was built for, not an audience, but a working floor. A room where the people who fund, build, buy and deploy actually meet: thousands of one-to-one meetings running alongside the programme. The stages set the agenda. The tables around them set things in motion. Thank you to every speaker, sponsor, partner, and attendee who made RAISE Summit 2026 the room where the industry comes to decide what happens next. A huge thank you to our partners at Final Chain Films, who documented every moment the way it deserved to be captured. And the room is about to get bigger. RAISE Summit is joining @hyve_group, the formula that built one of the world's most influential technology conferences in three editions now goes global. The 2026 summit ended. What it set in motion didn't.

I predict 50% of companies will need new leadership, because the old management style won't work in the era of AI. That's exactly why I'm seeing 95%+ of so-called "AI Transformation" initiatives fail. Most are bolting on AI pilots for functional tasks, but never touching the business core. 01.AI just launched TrueNorth AI Decision platform for executives (Boss AI, TopSales AI, Investor AI agentic products) 01.ai/TrueNorth.html More on enterprise AI transformation in this interview with @aimcgarry: piped.video/wvIMy0AbJL0?si=RN-0…

The morning, at speed. Three stages, one hour, the biggest names in AI, cut down to the lines that landed. Scott Wu (@ScottWu46 ) called it plainest: "The golden age of software engineering is really here." Around him, the same current: @antonosika on a million new projects a week, Paolo Guglielmini of @nvidia on Europe's compute gap, Josh Wolfe (@wolfejosh ) the shift from token-maxing to token optimization. Different stages, one argument building all morning. RAISE Summit 2026, Paris. Day 1, and this was just the warm-up. #RAISE2026 #AI #Paris

MACHINA Summit is live at STATION F. Doors opened this morning to a packed house, the room filling out fast across both stages, standing room by mid-morning. Humanoids on the factory floor. Foundation models for embodiment. The infrastructure carrying the data underneath it all. The capital deciding who scales. The governance frameworks racing to keep up. Europe's Physical AI community, in one building, right now. Paris is the capital of robotics this week, and the crowd at Station F is proving it. MACHINA Summit.
