they laboriously train themselves to do a very specific thing that has the general aura of reasoning but which isn't. this is not my fault.

I've seen roughly this trotted out. It was complicated to prevent the casual observer from realizing that it was trivial, but the fact that people were taking it seriously was really revelatory of the state of the art here.

I'm sure they're around someplace but there is a notable absence in these photos.
Grad school is hard but I have never been more inspired to study in my life because this is what my university library looks like

they're stupid. we've got to get past the idea that the ai people are geniuses who are mysteriously confused or misguided. they're just dumb.

it's pretty clear that these guys are all just dumb. they were handed an architecture by Google and have been just randomly stirring it and hurling more data into it. it seems impossible, but every time these guys open their mouths it's like "wait, are they just stupid?"

also the idea that the pope should involve himself and by the extension the church in dipshit lesswrong p(whatever) bullshit is insane. the Pope is, for starters, an adult, and also not a Twitter-brained simpleton.

people famously don't like forgeries, even ones that for all intents and purposes perfect. this is revelatory.

I suspect the problem is whether God would ever equip one of these with a soul, and after due consideration, the pope and his advisors have concluded that they answer is "no." I'm not a Catholic but i didn't think the Pope had historically been in the probabilities business.

oh, it's well known. it's just that there's so much else he's well known for. he's a cult leader, not a thinker. normies really need to start realizing this sooner

I kind of wonder what's going to happen to all these guys who think they're going to Mars or uploading their brains or becoming immortal. DoorDash 2.0 Dash Harder is gonna be a letdown.
