I’m an AI researcher turned brain tumor patient, and recently I used the models to crack my mystery fatigue faster than my PCP could. I believe everyone can do the same with their own symptoms. Here’s how:

Wow, in 4 hours, all my 16 meeting slots are gone. I just opened up a dozen more. Thank you to everyone who reached out - you're giving my suffering a purpose!

All 30 slots were taken, and I just opened up 5 more. If you’re a patient, scientist or physician who couldn’t find a time, feel free to email / dm me and I’ll do my best to respond :)

the honest answer is that most people don't dig this deep into symptom analysis, and even if they did, it's hard to trust a model over your doctor. unless you're working at the intersection of medicine and ai, it's probably not a viable solution for now

I disagree. You don’t need literacy in biology, and perhaps only need basic but target literacy in AI. You’re not supposed to trust the models over your doctor when it comes to medical decisions, but rather bringing your medical hypothesis to your doctor. For lifestyle changes it’s more debatable

Firstly this story is fricken great. You cracked your fatigue as an AI researcher who knows when a model is making things up. Bravo. Hot take: Problem is we hear from people the model correctly ID-ed the diagnosis. But silence from those it confidently sent the wrong way… I see those people too. Sure it’ll get better, but everyone should understand there is a lot of variation.

I totally agree with the selection bias in the anecdotes we hear! I think teaching people how to identify hallucinations is part of the AI literacy education, and this part is as important as the nudging people to use AI part. Curious what’s your perspective on AI as an MD?

I still can't believe that when Fable came out, they wouldn't let us use it for medical problems. It makes such a difference in people's lives

This worked great for me pulling in years of Oura and Samsung Health data. But I just ordered up my own labwork via Jason Health @ Quest, and iterated from there. They know me at Quest! Eventually found a genetic mutation.
