Precision and perfection!🥇 In a historic win, Kumkum Mohod clinches India's first-ever Asian Games gold in the women's individual recurve archery event, also securing a quota place for India at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This caps a stellar week for the 17-year-old, who had already won team gold and mixed team silver earlier in the Games." Images: Reuters

After 44 Years, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team Are Asian Games Champions! India have won GOLD again after 1982—and the foundation for this historic victory was laid by Lalremsiami Hmarzote, who scored a brilliant goal in the 10th minute to give India the lead. From there, crucial saves by goalkeeper Savita Punia and a rock-solid defensive effort from the entire team ensured that India held on to their 1-0 lead until the final whistle. 44 years of waiting… one goal… and history belongs to India once again! 🇮🇳❤️ #AsianGames #WomansHockeyTeam #GoldforIndia #WomaninSports #SportsIndia [Indian Women’s Hockey Team, Asian Games 2026, Women’s Hockey Gold]

Artificial intelligence is a transformative force of unprecedented scale—and by my definition, so is compassion. As a human creation, AI is never neutral; it absorbs our flaws, biases, and motives, magnifying them millions of times over. While technology and algorithms cannot feel, their creators can. Compassion must become the foundational architecture of AI's design, training, development, and deployment. If the engineers and builders behind these systems lead with compassion, AI can preempt its own harms and evolve into a genuine friend to humanity in solving our most complex challenges. During my recent talks at Stanford and the University of Berkeley, I strongly proposed Compassionate AI. I called on the innovators and developers shaping our future: spend at least a week immersed in the lives of those facing profound hardships. Awaken your dormant compassion before you step back into the lab.

A salute to flydubai’s brave Indian pilot, Captain Smit Machchhar. Stabbed and wounded, yet he stood his ground. With the courage of "Arjuna" in the face of danger and the resolve of "Hanuman" when duty called, he fought back, opened the cockpit door, and gave the passengers and crew the chance to prevent disaster. He helped save 174 lives. Tonight, from the UAE to India to Israel, people are united in gratitude, wishing Captain Machchhar a swift and full recovery. A hero to his passengers, to aviation, and to people everywhere. Salute, Captain.

Three races. Three medals. One historic record. Vithya Ramraj has had quite a run at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya. It started with silver in the mixed 4x400m relay, where her late surge helped India finish second in 3:14.46. Four days later, she stepped onto the track for the 400m hurdles. She wasn't chasing a medal. She was chasing a number: 54 seconds. She clocked 54.75 seconds, won bronze and — more importantly — broke PT Usha's 42-year-old national record of 55.42 seconds. And then came the relay. On Tuesday, Vithya was part of the Indian women's 4x400m relay team alongside Kiran Pahal, Machettira Poovamma and Prachi. The quartet clocked 3:29.69 to win gold, giving India its first athletics gold of the Games. So Vithya leaves Nagoya with: 🥇 Gold — Women's 4x400m relay 🥈 Silver — Mixed 4x400m relay 🥉 Bronze — Women's 400m hurdles 🏆 New national record — 54.75 seconds And perhaps the most interesting part? She says she wasn't chasing the medals at all. She was chasing her own time. #AsianGames #IndianAthletics #VithyaRamraj #TrackAndField #womaninsports [42 years after PT Usha, Vithya Ramraj finally rewrites India’s 400m hurdles record]

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 are at the heart of batteries, hydrogen technologies, semiconductors, sensors, photovoltaics and many other areas that will shape our future. India needs to develop its own capabilities in these areas. We cannot remain dependent on imported materials and technologies. The AMRIT Center will work on both research and translation. The idea is not merely to publish papers, but to create intellectual property, work closely with industry and take promising technologies from the laboratory to the market. It will also train a new generation of researchers in this important field.
