one of those images where you should take some time to zoom in and pan around and marvel that this is an alien world currently ~150M miles away

asked claude to plot homeboy's # of publications by year, dude went beast mode
There's a chaired, full professor at UChicago who has put out *200* papers in 2026 alone. And at least one has been submitted to a journal (so potentially many more). They don't all cite each other though -- rookie mistake.

Really good talk by Oz very much worth your time. Some of his slides. I hadn't seen the "jagged frontier" figure which is useful and I might steal w/ credit.
On Wednesday I gave a 'farewell' talk to my physics career (@Fermilab) I outline my decision to leave for AI safety and why its so urgent Recording is on Youtube for those interested! (slides linked below) youtu.be/6-7PVxRdls8?si=PvgI…

"Let's just take a closer look." Famous last words. NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory images reveal stars, nebulae, and a mindblowing number of distant galaxies hiding in the background. So go ahead. Zoom in. You might want to clear your schedule. ➡️ skyviewer.app

The entire space age was literally born on April 5, at a dinner party hosted by James and Abigail Van Allen at their home in Silver Spring. The food was allegedly great and post-dinner conversation over brandy in the living room gave rise to the IGY, which led directly to Sputnik
Brilliant @DKThomp take on the Decline of the American Dinner Party host. open.substack.com/pub/derekt…

I view the future with a superposition of immense optimism and absolute dread. Everything is going to be okay, potentially awesome, and also we are absolutely cooked.

The quiet superpower of my pre-kid life was being able to do whatever the hell I wanted in the evenings/on weekends. I used to "chill work" until 3am sipping wine & crank out almost a whole paper. Now I need to pick up the kids by 5 and it takes 2 hours to put them to bed.
America’s young people should consider getting off my lawn slowboring.com/p/feed-the-li…
