Our parents are brainwashed. I have the unfortunate privilege of bearing witness to what flashes across the chyrons of CNN/MSNow when I’m at the gym. It’s so misrepresentative, skewed, dishonest, and it’s all maliciously calculated to influence opinion and spark emotion. I get angry knowing that this is what my parents and their peers consume. Even smart boomers/genx are either getting fried by MSN or newly discovered to them Tok/Reels. Absolutely tragic and I’ll never forgive the powers that be. They think they know the truth yet they’re misinformed and as brain rotted as the rest of us. Telling my mom to get on twitter doesn’t work, I’ve tried. These people will vote for 20-30 more years.

I get why people are mad. White Brad on the couch is a pretty convenient stand-in for an undeserving welfare collector. But the anger from the right is misplaced. SHS is packaging work requirements in the safest way possible, which makes the policy easier to sell without handing CNN an easy story about racial stereotyping. That's the realpolitik. Most of the people mad about the ad agree with the underlying policy anyway. Here's what should bother you more: an honest version of this ad could never air. Nobody in American politics can show where the money actually goes and survive the week. Brad is the decoy. Everyone knows it, likely including SHS. Do you want the honest ad that dies on arrival, or the dishonest one that popularizes progress?
Some critics online don't like my welfare work requirement ad. Next thing you know they’ll say I should have used cookies instead of cheese balls. If you are able-bodied you should not collect welfare simply because you choose not to work. Period. WATCH->

I completely disagree with this and think this is highly irrational, sub-optimal and nearsighted. Most importantly for a fraction of the effort that has gone into this vitriol you could sit down with someone like Vivek and sway his misguided views re American work ethic etc. Instead opting for petulance and misguided self-sabotage adds credence to the notion that republicans act as emotionally as democrats. That said I don’t belittle the anger towards Vivek and don’t dismiss it as racism. Our children should be advantaged. The playing board should not be fair. I would burn the world down to secure the future for Americans. But if you give the power to irrational actors like Dems you are worsening the setup for your children. And you are hamstringing patriots like Bessent working tirelessly to fix things. The principled approach is to debate Vivek and to ensure he sees the light. And if he doesn’t see the light accept that he is a temporary placeholder until the next elections. Something you could never do with a Dem. Because Vivek believes what he says. Even if it is at times misguided. And he can therefore be molded. You can’t say the same about your true opponents. And purism is childish behavior we leave to libertarians. Do you want to win or do you want to remain morally pure?
I would vote for a Democrat if the Republican is bad enough, which is how I see Vivek. It should be remembered the Boriswave happened under a conservative government.

Shut-up and dribble bro
I don't care what you think of former Presidents the fact is, they were the President. You don't mock them to leaders of any foreign country. As Americans, we look out for our own regardless of politics.

It’s not even their fault that they believe these things. Their sources of news are so hysterical and pedantic that the logical conclusion to be gleaned IF what they’re being told is true, is that Trump should be removed by any means. I’d support (lead?) a coup if Kamala gets elected. That to me is logical based on the potential implications for the country. Calling this two sides of the same coin is completely smooth brained. Trump has a strategy, independent thought, and is FORMIDABLE on the world stage. Kamala on the other hand would let us get extorted by the UN, dunked on by China, all while giving us with self destructive domestic policy. Thanks
Democrats claim to support “our democracy,” yet by a massive margin they support a military coup.

Only way to patch this is to prevent the possibility of it from happening, or publicly televised executions. Since we didn’t prevent, we must deter.
BREAKING: DHS confirms to @FoxNews that a rideshare driver arrested in Montgomery County, MD for allegedly kidnapping & raping an underage girl during a ride is an illegal alien from the African country of Guinea who was caught & released at the AZ border by the Biden admin in 2023. He also has a prior rap sheet of sexually assaulting a minor in NYC from earlier this year. DHS says Abdoulaye Dia of Lanham crossed the border illegally into Lukevilke, AZ on December 21, 2023 (one of the days my team and I were there doing live shots showing masses of African men crossing illegally), but was released into the U.S. by Border Patrol. Dia was arrested by NYPD on June 10th for sexual abuse by forcible compulsion, forcible touching – sexual/intimate parts of another person, injure child less than 17, and sexual abuse without consent. He’s now been arrested by police in Maryland for allegedly kidnapping and raping an underage teen girl during an Empower rideshare in which he was the driver. Police say he took her to a parking lot and raped her in his vehicle, and they believe there are more victims.

Last month I wrote about how we can build a positive and safe future for everyone: meta.com/thefutureisforevery… Every lab has the responsibility and incentive to move at the pace required to train its models safely, and the ability to take its own actions to ensure that happens. The reality is: - People won't want to use agents that are misaligned with them and that don't do what they ask, so labs have a strong natural incentive to make their models more aligned. There is a lot of debate about slowing progress on capabilities until alignment catches up. My view is that trust and alignment are quickly becoming the most important capabilities that will differentiate agents and models. Any lab that doesn't focus on alignment will fall behind. - Labs face significant liability if their models cause harm, so they have a strong incentive to prevent this as well. Meta delayed shipping Muse for several months to focus on safety and security. We didn't call for everyone else to do this before we would. We just did it as part of our day-to-day work because it was clearly the right thing for people and for us. I'm proud of the security foundations we've built. - Engaging independent evaluators and advisors is industry best practice. MSL already does this today in several areas because it helps produce better work. Other labs can just do this too. In general, it would be helpful for there to be a larger and more diverse ecosystem of evaluators. - Committing the significant majority of compute towards serving people rather than racing towards recursive self-improvement is one of the best ways to ensure we develop this technology safely. Meta has made this commitment and other labs can do this as well. I believe the key to building a positive future for everyone is maintaining the right balance of power. This is within our power to do.

I wonder how many corporate women every day hang a sweater over their shoulders as some sort of weird fashion accessory. Must be thousands daily in Manhattan alone. It’s like me putting on a hat with my otherwise default khakis and black t shirt when I go out to drink.

There is an unseen hand pushing AI safety as a political ideology. Effective Altruists believe a tiny group of technocrats should decide how much technological progress the rest of us are allowed to have…. and how many shrimp your life is worth. You are witnessing their attempted coup. thefp.com/p/dangerous-ideolo…

"Hey Dario, congrats again on the great quarter. Nice to see the Enterprise re-acceleration. Hoping you could provide a little color on that 10% extinction # and some of the puts and takes that might have on further enterprise adoption. And then just a quick follow-up after"
Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

Commuting to the O and screen peeked the middle aged (28-35) corp foid doomscrolling while walking. Obviously a reel about Lindsay Clancy’s husband. It’s one thing to hear about it on the app, another to witness an otherwise normal looking woman being fried by the algorithm irl. Her vote counts as much as ours btw.

Honestly the fact that we don’t have more income tax revolts is completely insane. People in NYC get taxed 50% and the government essentially does not provide services to those paying the taxes but instead only to the leech component that doesn’t pay taxes.
