I agree with Easy here but unfortunately this is what happens when a company gets big
Early on the only way you win is by being easier to use than everyone else. Then you grow, and suddenly every team is judged on revenue, retention, new feature adoption. That stuff wins the roadmap
Nobody gets promoted for keeping send and receive easy to find, that's already "done". But launching a stablecoin has a number attached to it
Plus a/b tests just reward whatever moves the business metric, not whatever saves you 3 taps.
So you end up with a bunch of individually reasonable decisions that add up to a worse product. The stablecoin default is probably part of that.
The fix isn't even hard, just measure how long basic stuff takes and make the defaults opt in.
I wanna give some credit to Phantom for turning one of the best mobile wallets into utter garbage.
Why can't I easily find my wallet address from the first page of the UI?
Why does ever token sale automatically go to Phantoms stable coin?
Why did they move the send or even receive tokens button into an obscure place and require 3-4 additional button clicks?
It takes a special talent to turn a great product into an absolutely AWFUL one.
