Britain if the government stopped holding a thousand "consultations" on every new idea and instead just did things
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has refused to back the third runway at Heathrow “It’s not right for me to jump straight in on this issue off the back of a consultation”

Might start turning up to government consultations just to tell them that I want them to stop consulting people and fucking get on with it already.

Democracy is when you vote for a government and then that government does the things that you voted for them to do. This has been made impossible in Britain because everything has to go through a million layers of unnecessary bureaucratic nonsense.

Sounds promising. Let's hold a consultation on it.

How would all the lawyers and consultants and high salary fake job executives make infinite amounts of money though ?

A good leader makes good decisions A bad leader makes bad decisions The worst leaders make the worst decisions - this is where we are! A dozen consultancies and counter-signings for anything so if it goes wrong, no one is even accountable!

They did this for the planning and infrastructure bill and it was an utter failure

The politicians would have to make a decision then, and thus be held to account, and we can’t have that Better to disperse power to a million lawyers, NGOs, thinktanks, and consultants than potentially be blamed for doing a shit job

A government who wants progress should announce a huge project, then when the "consultancy firms" and "animal charities" come out to demand their part in it, simply name, shame, arrest, and dissolve those groups. Suddenly, there won't be a 'need' for a 'consultation'. Strange!

in this case it would be just not doing things since it's not a gov programme

Funny how we used to watch The Jetsons and this vision was so farfetched and technologically impossible. Now it's entirely plausible but the economy's just shit.

We should swap places with the Chinese industrial / construction sector for a year and see where things land. One runway? They’d have 10 airports, 000’s of high speed trains up and running.

The only bit of infrastructure we have built in the last 20? years is also an incredible success. So let's make sure we have no more of that - some bats might get harmed, a tree that died 50 years ago could have to be cut down or a rock could be disturbed.

We used to give entire continents infrastructure, justice systems and hospitals now we can’t lay tarmac

We need a consultation about having less consultations
