Every girldad knows that if no young man steps up to take a blast of shrapnel to the face, then they’ll be the ones taking a blast of shrapnel to the face. It’s a race against time, or else they permanently lose their caretaker.
Girldads basically rigged ticking time bombs that were supposed to explode after young men signed the wifeguy slave contract. But the handoff isn’t happening, so the time bombs are exploding on themselves.

I had a very hateful self proclaimed feminist HS teacher that made us read pride and prejudice, and ironically I just remembered that this is one of the subplots: daughters a girldad cant get rid of. Life is funny

Nah, Mr Bennet openly mocks his wife and all but his two older daughters. The two marriageable ones. He's openly dismissive of his wife's scheming and his idiot young daughters.

Mr Bennett is a terrible father. He is openly contemptuous of his younger daughters. When the younger gets into trouble it is Mr Darcy who has to rescue her. It is as much a story warning against weak fathers as anything else.
