He hit .267 with 15 HR’s in his best professional season in 2024….
People that value expected stats will tell you his XOBA is 2 points higher this year so he must have bad luck….
People that value actual stats will tell you he is slugging 100 points lower this year and luck is created by the hitter’s ability to not hit the ball to a fielder….
People that value sound swing mechanics based on a hundred plus years of evidence will tell you his spacing is a disaster this year compared to 2024 and someone should look a little deeper into what exactly projects these expected stats..…

#STLCards age-19 phenom Rainiel Rodriguez was chosen as the annual “Prospect of the Year” for 2026 by Keith Law of The Athletic.
“Rodriguez’s year would have been incredible if he were 22 years old. That he did all of this at 19, almost all in Double A, makes him a fairly easy choice for this honor,” Law wrote. “He continued to catch and throw well enough that he could stay at the position — unless the Cardinals think his bat is so valuable they want him to play every day.”
