Following reactions to @BillAckman’s post on famine and BILD’s exposé on staged hunger in Gaza, it seems that what’s obvious to those familiar with the facts is far from clear to others. The question remains: Is there famine in Gaza? And is it staged? Any definitive “yes” or “no” without the concise clarification below would be inaccurate. Let’s be clear: In most of Gaza’s poor and displaced areas, people receive food and meals on a daily basis in an organized manner—and often get plenty of gifts, snacks, and extras. When they arrive at the food distribution point, they receive their meals in an orderly, calm process. (You’ve probably never seen the tens of thousands of videos from NGOs distributing food peacefully, with everyone smiling, full, and satisfied—simply because that’s not the narrative the mainstream media wants you to see.) Is that famine? No. It’s hardship, inconvenience—it’s less comfortable than opening your fridge at home. But it’s not famine, and that is, in fact, the reality in most of Gaza. This is what a war zone looks like—especially on the losing side, which in this case also started the war. (They were displaced because Hamas used their residential areas as terror bases, and because most of the civilians elected Hamas—a terrorist organization whose official founding charter openly calls for the destruction of Israel—as their representatives. A minor detail, of course.) In addition, there are slightly more organized areas—about 30% of Gaza—that have not been damaged or have been only partially damaged, where you can find fully functioning shops, markets, restaurants, and even malls. Sometimes they close briefly due to temporary shortages or evacuation orders. Then there is Hamas itself, which has stockpiled enormous amounts of food for its own fighters and leadership for the long term, with the aim of surviving and profiting by selling it to civilians at exorbitant prices through its agents. And beyond that, there is a tiny percentage of people who truly suffer—remote and poorer areas that may occasionally miss a meal, or even two. Now to the question of staging—are the scenes staged? When we say a scene is “staged,” we don’t mean children finished breakfast, left a villa in expensive clothes, drove in a limousine, arrived at a studio, changed into ragged clothes, and started filming themselves screaming and crying. We mean something entirely different: When food is being distributed at distribution points, Gazan journalists are there waiting. (When we say “Gazan journalists,” note that almost all are affiliated with Hamas—some actively, others as supporters.) These journalists essentially direct “the scene.” They instruct certain children on how to behave, how to present themselves, when to cry, etc. All the videos you’ve seen of children screaming with empty pots actually come from this exact form of staging. Without the journalists and cameras, the children would simply be standing in line calmly, happy and full, waiting for their food. So, to be clear: Are we talking about well-fed children, swapping identities from kids living in comfort to ones pretending to be starving? No. Are we talking about children who have daily access to food and water in a distribution area, but when journalists arrive they are asked to act as if the situation is dire and they truly lack food and water? Yes. The same applies to many scenes of IDF strikes. There’s a recurring pattern that collapses under a bit of thought (and that’s the point—Hamas counts on the overwhelming power of visuals over the much rarer habit of thinking): we see footage of a missile hitting a building; hours later, videos of injured and dead being pulled from the rubble, with women wailing in the background. In many documented cases, if Gazan cameramen know a missile is about to hit and position themselves perfectly to capture it, that usually means the people in the building also know it’s coming—and evacuate. This too, in many cases, is what we call staging. It doesn’t mean a missile didn’t fall. It doesn’t mean there’s no war. It also doesn’t mean no one dies. But there is a lot—an awful lot—of manipulation involved: distorted casualty numbers, presenting terrorists as civilians, partial or complete staging, and more. That’s a separate and even more sensitive subject. Hamas long ago declared that its main weapon against Israel is propaganda—not rockets, not tunnels, which are merely secondary tools—bait to drag Israel into the propaganda swamp it still doesn’t know how to navigate. The reason is simple: they cannot defeat Israel on the battlefield. The calculation should be straightforward: Hamas is a terrorist organization + controls the media in Gaza + has openly declared its goal to erase Israel + is willing to die and sacrifice civilians for that goal + is religiously permitted (and in some interpretations obligated) to lie to achieve it (taqiyya – a doctrine in Islam allowing concealment or deception to protect oneself or advance a cause) + has been caught lying countless times + is boosted by the mainstream media’s rush to blame Israel = …? With your permission, let’s climb just a little higher: How is it possible that over nearly two years of alleged famine in Gaza, they’ve done everything to find children in real malnutrition—without success—and instead presented children with genetic disorders? Why the need for so much propaganda and manipulation if you’re telling the truth? Why steal so many photos of starving people from other countries—places like Yemen, Sudan, or Somalia? Why are there hundreds of luxury restaurants operating in Gaza today? How can there be thousands of food influencers in Gaza, still posting recipes and meals with abundant ingredients daily? Why is it that in most videos we see, people appear healthy and well-fed, with clean, ironed clothes, trimmed hair, shaved beards, full of energy, filmed in high quality on modern iPhones—always charged, always with perfect reception—while in genuinely famine-stricken countries we see nothing even close to that? Even children in truly famine-hit countries always have an apathetic, tired expression, and show no special interest in the camera. The answer is simple: the famine they present is nothing of the sort. It’s far from it. The fact that Gaza gets 100 times the global media spotlight compared to anywhere else, while other places suffer 1,000 times more with zero headlines, is hypocrisy—but more than that, it shows there’s a bigger game being played behind the scenes by powerful actors who want this narrative. “Is there famine in Gaza?” There is hardship in some areas, and abundance in others. “Is the famine staged?” Turning hardship into “famine” through exaggerated scenes, asking children to stand with empty pots for the camera, to scream and cry—that is absolutely staging. This middle-ground reality is hard for the public to grasp—because it requires explanation, because people crave absolute good-vs-evil answers, and because it’s not viral. This, I believe, is what Bill means when he says every claim should be examined thoroughly before being published. That’s what we would expect the mainstream media to do. And it’s the last thing the mainstream media will do—because what it cares about is chaos and outrage that will grab and inflame the public as much as possible (not to mention each journalist’s personal motives) The fact that there are many places where suffering is 1,000 times worse than in Gaza, yet they interest no one and get zero coverage, is proof enough that those shouting “famine in Gaza!” have been manipulated and made victims of propaganda—whether the claim is true or not. And if you know you’re talking about Gaza because you’ve been subject to endless propaganda pushes, you should ask why they want to push it so aggressively, even at the expense of the truth—and whether you aren’t falling for a deliberate falsehood. The massive use by Gaza’s civilians of high-end cameras, polished, youth-oriented viral video editing—all show they know exactly the job they’re supposed to do and what’s expected of them. This is unique to Gaza compared to any other crisis zone in the world, and it says a lot. That’s why it’s both a right and a moral duty to think carefully about what interested parties want you to see—versus what is actually happening. By questioning narratives and seeking the full picture, you uphold the very principles that protect truth and morality. x.com/BillAckman/status/1953…
I just took down posts about the @TIME Gaza cover as a photo showing the apparent hunger of the participants clearly looked staged, that is, a separate angled shot of the cameraman who took the photo made clear that the subjects were posing for the photographer and not, as it appeared on the Time cover, waiting desperately for food. A subsequent video of the scene that was shared seemed to suggest that while that photo was staged, the subjects in the video seemed desperate for food. A @GAZAWOOD1 rebuttal credibly called into the question that video as also being staged. As a result of the above, I took down all posts on the scene as I cannot definitely determine what the truth is on the ground in that scene. While I think it is likely that access to food is challenging in Gaza, I hold Hamas entirely responsible due to their theft of aid and unwillingness to release the hostages to end the war.

If you really want to know why so many of us have spoken out loudly against Qatar, and the Muslim Brotherhood, then this is the most important video you will ever see. Many of us, especially the likes of @ACTBrigitte and @DefiyantlyFree and @NimaYamini and many others, know exactly who and what Qatar is. And it doesn’t matter what bullshit the likes of Ian Carroll or Tucker Carlson or Candace Owens or any of these lying cockroaches try to deflect and manipulate you with, the truth speaks for itself. Listen to every word from Qatar’s own neighbors and you’ll find the answers.

Sorry honey, “colonies” does not equal colonialism. In this sense, it meant urban planning in legally purchased lands, with Jews being an indigenous tribe of the area. In India there are “Parsi colonies” and “Sindhi colonies” yet not “colonialism” by those groups. There are “artists colonies” in other places in the world. The word colony has historically been used to denote like minded people living together, different from colonialism. Israel’s never been a colony of a metropole and Jews have no empire. Jews are indigenous group of the land with 4000 years of continuous presence in Eretz Yisrael. You have ZERO gotcha for your Colonizer Libel.

Hey, just wondering, do you know that Jews make up a measly 0.2% of the world’s population? Do you think the amount of hate or even press coverage, mostly negative, is proportionate to that number? Why is that? We are 15-16 million out of 8-9 billion. And yet, we are all anyone talks about. The news. Social media. Protests. Marches. Legislation. Politics. How do you explain that? Did you ever ask yourself why Israel, the only Jewish state in the world, and a state smaller than New Jersey, dominates all your feeds? And have some integrity. Don’t come at me with “It’s because the Jews cause so much trouble, Israel causes so much instability in the region.” Even if you’re unintelligent enough to believe all the lies and all the fake numbers reported by Hamas, the Jewish people have done more for the betterment of society than anyone, not to mention the fact that there are countless real genocides happening around the world that result in infinitely more casualties than in the Middle East conflict. Go check how many Nobel prizes were awarded to Jews. Again, 0.2% of the population. Want to take a guess? A quick Google search… “At least 214 Jews and people of half- or three-quarters-Jewish ancestry have been awarded the Nobel Prize, accounting for 22% of all individual recipients worldwide between 1901 and 2023, and constituting 36% of all US recipients during the same period.” “In other words, Jewish Nobel laureates number at least 11,250 per cent above average.” Sorry, but any person with a half a brain will tell you that is insane. But it’s not just Nobel prizes. We have given you the alphabet, the Bible, the Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, the twelve apostles, Spinoza, Disraeli, Columbus, Newton, Nostradamus, Heine, Mendelssohn, Einstein, Singer, Eisenstein, Freud, Landau, Gershwin, Offenbach, Rubinstein, Saint-Saëns, Kafka, Lombroso, Montaigne, Mahler, Marcel Marceau, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Yehudi Menuhin, Stefan Zweig, Arthur Miller, Maya Plisetskaya, Stanley Kubrick, Irving Berlin, Edward Teller, Lion Feuchtwanger, Paul Newman, Robert Oppenheimer, Benny Goodman, Eugène lonesco, Ime Kalmán, Marcel Proust, Marc Chagall, Barbra Streisand, Claude Lelouch, Steven Spielberg, Anouk Aimée, Leonard Bernstein, Norbert Wiener, Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Andrew Lloyd Webber and thousands of other scientists and educators. Who is the first on scene when there’s a natural disaster, even if that disaster happens on hostile soil like Turkey? The Jews. Who invented drip irrigation to allow you to water your garden? The Jews. Who developed the chip in your iPhone? The Jews. Who made the technology you use every time you unlock your iPhone? The Jews. Who built the world’s most sophisticated GPS app, Waze? The Jews. Who built the most sophisticated autonomous car technology that will power the future of transportation? The Jews. Who developed the Iron Dome that has miraculously saved millions of lives? The Jews. Pacemakers and Defibrillators? Jewish American cardiologist Paul Zoll Genetic Engineering? Jewish American scientist Paul Berg Cholera and Bubonic Vaccination? Jewish bacteriologist Waldemar Haffkine The Polio Vaccine? Austrian Jewish biologist Karl Landsteiner Google? Two Jewish colleagues, Larry Page and Sergey Brin The teddy bear? Morris Michtom, a Jewish Brooklyn candy shop owner, and his wife, Rose The Ballpoint Pen? Laszlo Biro, a Jewish Hungarian-Argentine inventor Polaroid and instant cameras? Edwin Land, cofounder of the Polaroid Corporation Camera phones? Philippe Kahn born in Paris in 1952 to Jewish immigrants I haven’t even scratched the surface. So tell me please, without using the word antisemitism, why are Jews hated so much? Why are we the recipients of more hate crimes than anyone? Why have empires thoughout the generations tried to annihilate the Jews? Why are there more absurd blood libels against the Jews than any other nation? Why are Jews vilified with drawings of hook noses or greed more than any other group? Why is Israel the only thing anyone wants to talk about? The Jewish people have brought a massively disproportionate amount of good to this world, an unparalleled amount of light to a very dark world. So what is it about the world that makes so many people throughout history hate the Jews so much? Someone please explain it to me… But just as sure as the hatred of Jews is, is the historical reality that Am Yisrael Chai, that the Jews will outlive all the haters and continue to flourish and change the world for the better. We are only just getting started. To all you haters out there, Am Yisrael Chai, you fools! ✡️🇮🇱💪❤️🔥🙏

Thousands of anti-Canada protestors gather regularly in our streets to whine about the Nakba. Frankly, this entire Nakba narrative is old. So let's debunk it, yet again, shall we? Especially now that Jewish history has effectively been rendered illegal by so many of our schools, most recently by the Toronto District School Board (@tdsb). It's time to stop with indoctrination and get back to education ... The Nakba was NOT the catastrophe the anti-democracy mob purports it to be. The Nakba was the Arabs losing a war they started — in the most humiliating way. I'll explain simply: On May 14, 1948, Israel declared independence. Immediately following that declaration, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Saudi Arabia waged a genocidal war against the new Jewish state. Their plan: the complete and utter annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people. Israel had no army and few weapons. Adversaries ambushed them from all directions. While the US and UK prevented Israel from getting arms, the Brits trained and armed the Arabs. Against ALL odds, tiny, unprepared Israel defeated SIX trained and well-armed armies. One of the greatest military humiliations in history. And the Arabs and Palestinians repeated similar self-inflicted humiliations in 1967 and again in 1973. If you want to talk about a real Nakba, then talk about the one million Jews ethnically cleansed from Arab countries. Those Jews were forced to flee, after murders, r*pes, and pogroms. Generations of their wealth, history, and places of worship left behind. No refugee status. No United Nations cheque every month — for seven generations. No “right of return.” Oh, and why is 20 per cent of Israel’s population Arab-Israeli? Well, as part of that 1948 war, Arab leaders ordered Arabs on Israeli land to leave their homes. They promised them they could return home after they exterminated the Jews. Israelis pleaded with the Arabs not to listen. “We are peace-loving people,” the Israelis published widely, inviting the Arabs to stay. “There is no cause for fear which others try to instill in you.” The ones who fled went to various refugee camps throughout the Arab states. Their living conditions were poor and the Arab states did not grant them any rights. Israel offered to take the refugees back. But nope! They did not want to live amongst Jews. The Arabs who did not leave remain today as part of the Arab-Israeli population of 2 million. Their rights are equal to those of Jewish-Israelis. The Nakba was never a catastrophe inflicted upon Arabs; it was always a self-inflicted embarrassment. This is not taught to Arab or Palestinian children in schools because it’s humiliating to their people. But why isn’t this important piece of history taught in schools everywhere else around the world? Too many schools in Canada, for instance, allow this propaganda to be a part of their classroom studies. And from a marketing perspective, this propaganda is well-positioned to be accepted by people who don’t know any better because they never received this education in any history class. The word “Nakba” is also cleverly wielded. A non-English word, it acts as a mysterious, yet symbolic placeholder for whatever trauma your mind can conjure. The ambiguity gives it power. The unfamiliarity of its language and culture gives it a sense of empathetic authenticity. You want it to be real, so you can demonstrate your empathy for its cause. Suicidal empathy. (Credit to yet for coining that term.) But for those who suffer from Factophobia (credit to me for coining that term), and cannot absorb facts — let me break it down again — in the absolute simplest way possible: The Nakba was the Arabs’ effort to colonize another country, genocide its people, lose a brutal war they started, and then whine about it to the world, forevermore. Essentially, Nakba is also the biggest scam in the history of humankind. Now, in 2024, history repeats itself — yet again. Which also means Israel will emerge victorious again. Am Yisrael Chai🇮🇱

“One of the most complicated hostage rescue missions in history.” The operation to rescue the hostages from Nusayrat was named "Summer Seeds" and is defined by the IDF as one of the most complex ever for hostage rescue. The hostages were held in a heavily civilian populated area, above ground, in buildings of 3-4 stories. The forces stormed the two separate targets where the hostages were held, with Noa held on the first floor and Andrey, Shlomi, and Almog on the third floor of another building, hundreds of meters apart. Hamas moved the four hostages from apartment to apartment, and the concern was that if the forces only stormed one building, the terrorists would escape with the hostages in the second building. The Air Force gathered intelligence from the air in the last few days, and the IDF and Shin Bet created conditions to reach the targets without the terrorists shooting the hostages first, which was key to the operation's success. The models built by the Yamam (Israel's counter-terrorism unit) reminded senior military officials of the models established for the Entebbe operation, with buildings, streets, and small areas for practice. The main problem was in the apartment where Andrey, Almog, and Shlomi were held, and where Yamam fighter Arnon Zamora was killed. The rescue took place under heavy fire, and during the disengagement, dozens of terrorists with RPGs and machine guns ran through the alleys towards the targets. As a result, uninvolved Gazan civilians were also killed in the dense fire exchange. The military said, "The difference between success and failure in such an operation is a hair's breadth, and we relied on exceptional technology from the Intelligence and Shin Bet. Without ground activity and maneuvering in the Gazan area, it would not have been possible to succeed in such operations." The IDF also noted that the rescue was made possible by Commander Zamora's heroism. "Shin Bet and Intelligence Directorate fighters entered the lion's den in the refugee camp and dismantled houses in areas where we hadn't maneuvered," they said. "This is bravery on the level of Judah Maccabee. The operation was planned for weeks with drills, rescue plans, and fires executed, alongside scenarios of cases and responses." The forces simultaneously broke into the two houses with special weapons developed for the operation. Immediately after extracting the hostages, the forces began to withdraw while fighting dozens of terrorists, but a vehicle with the three hostages got stuck and came under heavy fire. Division 98 forces jumped in to assist in the vehicle rescue battle, and rescue helicopters entered deep into the strip in daylight. Three brigades participated in the rescue battle, during which Zamora was also evacuated to the hospital: Brigade 7, Paratroopers, and Kfir with Flotilla 13, along with other special forces. "The fire plan that was executed was focused but extremely powerful," the IDF added. "The cooperation with Shin Bet and Yamam rose to several levels into a single operational system, under the direction of the Shin Bet chief and the Chief of Staff. Four keys to the operation: deception, surprise, determination, and power." To maintain the secrecy of the operation, thousands of soldiers in the brigades that participated in the rescue were unaware of the nature of the operation before it happened to preserve the element of surprise. Only a handful of commanders were exposed to the operation yesterday, at various levels. These forces were positioned at the correct launch points without revealing the secret. During the operation, soldiers were also lightly injured, mainly from shrapnel.

My favorite part of genocide scholarship is when the scholars ignore every Arab state or terrorist mass murder of the last half century, and somehow find a relatively small, but intense urban war conducted by Jews is the most flowery example of genocide since Rwanda. Please do Russia versus Ukraine first. Then follow it up with Syria versus its own people. And if you have time, please explain why HAMAS’s 10–7 mass murdering every living soul wasn’t an good attempt at genocide. I’ll wait.
As a genocide scholar, I have tried to understand the arguments I have read for why Israel’s conduct in Gaza does not constitute genocide. I struggle. The counter-arguments are not difficult. Here are 8 arguments I've heard and what I think in response. 1/n

EVERYONE READ THIS: Here is where I break with @mehdirhasan. WE in America did not allow ANY of this to happen. HAMAS chose to invade Israel. HAMAS chose to slaughter over a thousand people through summary execution. HAMAS built hundreds of km of tunnels, 10,000 hidden rocket sites in schools, mosques & hospitals. HAMAS abandoned the people above ground to a war they planned YEARS for. HAMAS chose to withdraw and fight in Gaza & make Gaza Stalingrad. They TOLD US THAT WAS THEIR MISSION. HAMAS Terrorism & mass murder may get a pass from you, a former Islamic extremist, but not from me. I defended people from terrorists bc they are EVIL humans. The crime here is on YOU who ignore HAMAS’s sole culpability in this war. No one had to die. Netanyahu did not make HAMAS invade. HAMAS chose death for all involved. Jewish children and Gaza’s babies. They even told you they needed civilians to die. HAMAS said it on video. HAMAS said they would do it again if given the chance. So. Just. Fucking. Stop. Right. There. Call on HAMAS to ceasefire. Call on HAMAS to surrender their hostages & disarm. If you cannot then we know you in your heart you side with HAMAS & not to end the suffering of the Palestinian people. I’ll wait.
The issue is not what we call this - a genocide, a crime against humanity, a war crime, etc - but that we allowed it to happen, we are complicit in it, and we will look back on all this as one of the most shameful periods in modern human history.
