Some of the greatest things in us are invisible at first. A seed doesn't look like a tree. A beginning doesn't look like a destination. And sometimes, you won't see your potential until you give yourself enough time, patience, and faith to grow. Trust what is still becoming.

I love the fact that a South African pilot helped save the FlyDubai flight after the Israeli passengers overpowered the terrorist. This must be especially difficult for haters in South Africa to accept and I hope they have to chew on it for a while. A better world is within reach
🚨New info on the attack onboard Fly Dubai to Tel Aviv: copilot who attempted to down the plane: an Omani national. Two additional pilots who were on board the plane and safely landed the plane - South African and New Zealand nationals. Israeli security officials describe the safe landing of the aircraft as a miracle.

Commissions cost the taxpayers, produce recommendations that often gather dust, and allow political hot potatoes to cool without reform. Meanwhile, SA continues to tumble to its current questionable status. Here are 4 myths that keeps corruption busting toothless. Thread 🔽 #Corruption #Madlanga

Still thinking about how Michelangelo said excellent people like to solitude-max because they don't want to "corrupt themselves with the vain conversation of idle persons and degrade their thoughts"

No amount of 'resetting and renewing' IDAC will produce a body capable of dealing with corruption. As long as it remains a directorate within the NPA - subject to ministerial veto and executive control - it is incapable of meeting the standard the Con. Court demanded in 2011. "Constitutionally compliant anti-corruption and anti-organised crime machinery of state is the first step on the road to improved health of the rule of law in South Africa." says @PaulHoffmanSC. #CorruptionSA #MadlangaCommission

'Resetting and renewing' IDAC is akin to fitting an ancient VW Beetle with fat tyres and a throaty exhaust system before entering it in a flat race with the mint-condition Lambos, McLarens and Ferraris. It is doomed to fail.

IDAC's failure was to be expected. Not only is it an inadequate stop-gap measure, the state of affairs within the body is symptomatic of the failure of the criminal justice system to deal appropriately with the twin scourges of corruption and organised crime in South Africa. Tinkering with a new leader at the helm is simply not sufficient to address the issues properly. There is no coming back from an implosion of this magnitude. #Corruption #MadlangaCommission

There are still trained experts in anti-corruption work in South Africa. The problem is that they are hobbled by bad elements within the existing criminal justice administration who sabotage all efforts to hold organised criminals and the corrupt to account. As world expert in organised crime Dr Mark Shaw testified before the Madlanga Commission, the cure lies in unshackling those actually committed to countering corruption from the institutions that bind them - and expeditiously removing all anti-organised crime and corruption work from the failing hands of SAPS, NPA and the SSA. The best practice to achieve this? A new Chapter Nine body - by definition outside executive control - purposefully built to deal effectively and efficiently with organised crime and corruption. The political will to do so is all that is lacking.
