🧵 The "Post-AGI Middle Ages" Theory
1/ When AGI hits full singularity, we aren't going to the future. We’re going back to 1300. 🏰
Why? Because when knowledge is infinite and free, its market value drops to zero. If everyone knows everything, knowing things no longer makes you rich.
2/In the Middle Ages, 99% of people were illiterate. Only the "Cloud" of that era (monks/nobility) held the data.
In a post-AGI world, we become "functionally illiterate" again—not because we can’t read, but because we don't need to. The AI does the thinking. 🧠💨
3/ So, what survives? The Physical. 🛠️
In the Middle Ages, wealth was land, energy, and craftsmanship.
In the Neo-Feudal era, the only things that will matter are:
• Physical land & raw resources
• Energy (The new "Manors")
• Manual mastery
4/ Enter the Neo-Guilds. 🛡️
Just like the old Blacksmith or Stonemason guilds, we will see humans "banding together" to create artificial scarcity.
Modern professions (surgeons, architects, artisans) will form closed loops to keep the AI out of the loop.
5/ The hierarchy of the future:
• The Masters: Humans with the "Seal of Authenticity" (No AI used).
• The Journeymen: Service providers who offer human-to-human connection (Care, coaching, hospitality).
• The Serfs: Those who own no hardware or land and rely entirely on the "Digital Commons."
6/ We spent centuries escaping the "Dark Ages" through literacy and the Enlightenment.
Irony: We built an intelligence so bright it might actually put us back in the dirt—valuing a hand-carved chair more than a million lines of perfect code. 🪑 > 💻
7/ The "Information Age" is ending. The "Authenticity Age" is beginning.
If you can’t touch it, own it, or eat it, it’s about to become worthless.
