Jennifer & Kevin McCoy Ghost Ship, 2025 Installation with ship model, laptop, video (color, silent), motors, lights Ghost Ship turns the simple, low-tech pleasure of casting shadows on a wall into an automated sculptural system. The ship and the laptop that powers the work are both found objects, repurposed by the artists. The image is generated physically and in real time, through light, movement, and electronics. The whole mechanism stays in plain view. For the McCoys, it's part of a longstanding interest in the infrastructures of technology, and a question about sustainability in a culture of continual technological replacement. ”ReLensing“ is on view through Oct. 17. LaJuné McMillian opens "Child/ren of the Bloom" at @PioneerWorks_ this Friday. The installation came out of McMillian's 2026 OceanX Education residency, turning research into phytoplankton, algal blooms and bioluminescence into an interactive floor-to-ceiling video work that shifts scale as visitors move their hands, from satellite imagery of a bloom down to a single organism. Alongside it: bioluminescent dinoflagellates in holographic displays, beaded embroidery drawn from satellite imagery, a sonic landscape of voiceovers and prayers, and a virtual oracle you can speak with. Umber Majeed is a 2026 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Digital and Electronic Arts! See her work in our current show, time is a flat circle. Majeed's writing, performance, and animation work engage with familial archives to explore Pakistani state, urban, and digital infrastructure through a feminist lens. Images in order: WE CAN FIX IT, 2025 Duniya = Temporal World, 2018 Cone of Light, 2018. WE CAN FIX IT draws inspiration from the storefront graphics of phone repair shops in Jackson Heights, Queens. Majeed translates this everyday commercial language into ceramic, creating an A-frame sign bearing the titular phrase, rendered in a medium defined by its brittleness. The work sits within Majeed's broader inquiry into how identity and history are carried through visual systems: state iconography, family records, and the aesthetic language of the Pakistani diaspora. time is a flat circle is open through August 1. Manfred Mohr will be exhibiting works from the @CentrePompidou permanent collection in an exhibition “Computer Worlds". This exhibition will be opening September 24 - February 14th. Created entirely from Centre Pompidou's collections, “Computer Worlds” retraces the history of digital creation from the 1950s to the present day. This group exhibition, at the intersection of artistic disciplines, showcases pioneering works by the founders of digital art along with the most cutting-edge contemporary creations. Since the second half of the 20th century, artists, designers and architects have constantly adopted technological tools, subverted their uses and expanded their potential through innovative, critical and experimental approaches. From the emergence of cybernetics in the 1950s to recent developments around artificial intelligence and NFTs, the exhibition explores the never-ending history of connections between art and technology. Through nearly 180 works – digital and graphic pieces, installations, architectural models and design objects – and archival documents, “Computer Worlds” offers ways to interpret the relationship between art and technology

For over three decades, Daniel Rozin has created interactive artworks that place the viewer at the center of image-making. Working with technology, custom software, physical materials, and kinetic motion, Rozin uses his practice to investigate how images are formed, perceived, and transformed through participation. In Interference, Rozin turns his focus explicitly to interference patterns—moiré effects—the shimmering, unstable visual phenomena that emerge when two patterned systems are overlaid and set into motion. These effects were extensively explored by Op Art artists in the 1960s, and most notably by Jesús Rafael Soto, who over several decades created hundreds of works investigating visual interference, vibration, and optical instability.

"Pulse Agglomerate" a biometric memorial performance for Donetsk, was performed by the great Ukrainian artist Maria Kulikovska yesterday in Basel, Switzerland, with support from the @izolyatsia Foundation—the art centre where Rafael Lozano-Hemmer originally recorded 100 heartbeats, just before it was converted into a torture camp in 2014. We are proud to announce that today the piece was acquired by @cityxfoundation so that it can be donated to a permanent Museum Collection—ideally in Europe to send a message of solidarity with Ukraine—ensuring its long-term preservation and public access. Through this acquisition, the CityX Foundation ensures the project may continue to serve as both a historical record and a living memorial—carrying forward the pulses of those who gathered in Donetsk shortly before the war transformed the region.

Opening today @ArtBasel Rafael Lozano-Hemmer Zero 10 - Booth Z05 Black Hole is a brand new work premiering at Art Basel. At the center of the spiral is a panoptic surveillance camera, a “black hole” that tracks and capture the gaze of the viewers, registering their presence as a biometric input that activates and transforms the work. The piece draws attention to the seductions of visibility—recognition, inclusion, and self-imaging —while simultaneously exposing the camera as a device of predatory vision. In this way, the installation reflects on contemporary cultures of metrics and surveillance, where seeing oneself is inseparable from being measured.

In this career-spanning exhibition, @daniel_rozin turns his focus to moiré: the shimmering, unstable visual phenomena that emerge when two patterned systems are overlaid and set into motion. Long explored by Op Art, these effects find new life here in kinetic form, activated not by the artist's hand but by your presence. For nearly three decades, Rozin's practice has investigated the structure and materiality of images. Employing a range of materials, from trash to hand fans, he probes what constitutes an image and, crucially, what can be transformed into one. Unlike many digital artists who emphasize technology, Rozin often conceals the mechanics and hardware entirely, creating a sense of mystery around the operation. The result is a body of work where the viewer is not audience but author. Interference is conceived as a homage to Jesús Rafael Soto, whose pioneering investigations of visual interference and perceptual motion laid the groundwork for the participatory optics Rozin has spent a career extending. Where Soto used hanging rods and painted planes, Rozin answers with custom software, aluminum knobs, and kinetic mirrors that shimmer in response to a body crossing the room. We are proud to present "Panoptic Chiasma", a Rafael Lozano-Hemmer solo show, at Zero 10 @ArtBasel Switzerland, in collaboration with Max Estrella Gallery. Mexican-Canadian media artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer presents a selection of digital art installations that explore contemporary perception as inseparable from computation. Four works use computer vision techniques to sense the public and create platforms for participation and critique.
