JUST IN: Harvard scientists detect radio signals directly from a planet outside our solar system for the first time, located 64 light-years from Earth.
Community note
The detected signals are natural auroral radio emissions from β Pictoris b's magnetic field, not evidence of intelligent life or technology. arxiv.org/abs/2609.16720 phys.org/news/2026-09-a… livescience.com/space/exoplane…

This morning’s @SpaceX mission from pad 40 was the last planned Falcon 9 Starlink launch from Florida (and it launched on the fleet leading booster!!), marking the end of an era for these launches on the East Coast. From here on, Starlink missions out of Florida will fly on Starship. The West Coast team will continue regularly launching Starlink from Vandenberg.   Super proud of this incredible team. You’ve made Falcon 9 the most reliable launch vehicle in history. You also helped build the largest low-Earth orbit satellite constellation providing connectivity to millions around the world, and you’ve set the foundation for what’s next.   In the last seven years, Falcon has flown ~260 Starlink missions from the Cape… can’t wait until we launch that and many more with Starship!

Tesla has released a new video of its U.S. battery recycling efforts. In 2025, they recycled over 3,000 metric tons of battery material at its Nevada facility, equivalent to 9,000 Model Y RWD vehicles of material. Tesla says their Texas recycling facility is also expected to process 3,000 metric tons of battery material this year. “By 2030, our recycled material output will rival the output of mines in North America.”
