On Feb. 17, 2025, a man in Waterbury, Connecticut set fire to an 8-by-9 room just to get out. Firefighters pulled him from the house at 5-foot-9 and 68 pounds.
Police say his stepmother, Kimberly Sullivan, had locked him in that room since he was about 11, more than 20 years.
She was arrested March 12, 2025. She has pleaded not guilty and is free on a 300,000 dollar bond.
She rejected two plea deals on Sept. 4, 2026. Next court date is Oct. 20, 2026 for pretrial motions.
