Anglo right wing nationalism: 1. Call everyone third world antisemites 2. Declare Indian women as the hot new desired breeding objects 3. Post in groupchats (very important) The thymos of the West burns brightly indeed. China could never.
SECRETARY RUBIO: This thumos, as the Ancient Greeks called it - the fire of passion, strength, courage, pride - is the heart of great civilization. Without it, nations lose their will to fight, to strive, to survive.

RT'ing to signal boost this great observation. American downward mobility manifests as daydreaming about being a white 'aristocrat' (lol) on the right, and describing the US as a society in the throes of a new economic Great Depression among the left.
Honestly, a lot of the crazy ass discourse and attempts to differentiate between what are white coded vs brown coded/aristocratic vs peasant coded behaviour that the online racist right is so obsessed with just comes from the fact they are downwardly mobile whites.

Being political to the point of hyperactivity has always been considered a bit loser-ish in American culture. Social media sites like 4chan and this site are now just breeding grounds for their mental illness where they all just descend into further mania.

I don't think that Iran's IRGC has understood the meaning of the American shale revolution — and its impact on geopolitics. If they see high US oil exports as a vulnerability, they are getting it very, very, very wrong: (From the IRGC's "Letter to the American people".)

All this glamorization of IRI leaders as PhD wielding scholar-warriors, when they've led their country to the precipice of national destruction, with a worldview that incorporates a lot of left-coded derision of the US as a paper tiger.

This is why you shouldn't underestimate America. Some will fight and die for their homelands. Others for their ideals and religion. But Americans will gladly die for Empire. Not even security, but outright Empire.
American experts on China go to Taiwan to encourage the country to defend itself against China. They're taken out to ice cream by retired Taiwanese naval officers, who tell the Americans that Taiwan doesn't want to fight and will basically surrender.

To people who remember devastating war on their own soil, it's incomprehensible: Americans are somehow more committed to maintaining a chokehold on the planet than life itself. Your love of life is nothing to an American who senses an imminent loss of hegemony. Get used to it.

Ridesharing became a good proxy for societal attitudes towards economic growth. I saw tons of 'labor arbitrage' args from the left and Europeans in the 2010s (see FT comment sections for examples). Plus Japanese and South Koreans taxi driver proles managed to keep it away.
this chart should be the death knell for the 2010s tech left whose theology compelled them to argue that Uber was some sort of labor law arbitrage that created no productivity benefits. the truth is that it created a far larger market than taxis ever had. the industrialists win

I used to take Gary Marcus+Ed Zitron more seriously, but I admit I was wrong. AI has become useful for even my personal tasks. Surveying the environment in US corps and reading second hand reports of AI uptake in China, it's clear that the demand for AI is basically infinite.
September was another big month for Korean exports, which more than doubled YoY, with the result that...

One of the problems with those Pettis/Setser types advocating for a larger welfare system in China to boost domestic consumption: it creates a gerontocratic political-economy where old people and communists capture the state to ensure constant parasitic drain to fund old people.
This is a huge problem for aging countries, i.e. all of the West. via @cowenconvos

I think a little welfare communism is fine and perhaps desirable to promote Faustian risk taking and entrepreneurship by the populace. But it's terribly easy to overdose and end up with unaffordable welfare states. Olds should be expected to work, provided that they are healthy.

>“Do you want a nuclear bomb or not?" Pezeshkian firmly rejected the premise. >"Not at all. Not at all.” Hopeless.
"Do you want a nuclear bomb or not?" @BretBaier cuts to the chase in an exclusive interview with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, directly questioning the leader about his country's nuclear ambitions. "Not at all. Not at all," Pezeshkian responds, insisting Iran does not seek nuclear weapons and saying Tehran was willing to dilute the material. When asked why Iran needed uranium enriched to 60%, Pezeshkian claimed "it's not a big deal" to dilute the material. @SpecialReport

Friend pointed out that this comes on top of their now totally leaky and ineffectual blockade of Hormuz. They bested the US-Israel in Round 1 and now just totally dropped the ball in Round 2. Don’t know how this country and civilization keeps surviving!
