I've transcended sidebar. I've been slowly turning my IDE into a Windows XP-inspired desktop. Agent threads are AIM chats, the background is a shader that reacts to thread activity, and all the fun lil apps are there too.

Claude Code will now try to find a graceful stopping point when you hit your 5-hour limit mid-task, instead of cutting off mid-edit. It gets a small, fixed allowance pulled from your weekly limit to wrap up what it can.

with opus 5.5, i've found that i really never need more than medium effort. it's like a rolls royce. i mostly set it and forget it

I use effort low a lot more when I want to stay in the loop, and effort max is basically only if I want zero input or want to find security vulnerabilities.

Playing around with bb in the iPhone Duo. Since bb is scriptable, what if it rearranged itself around what you’re doing or what needs your attention? Opus 5.5 built this entire video in javascript, added voiceover, and created a synth to compose the sound design. Pretty good!

I wanted to see how good Opus 5.5 is at 3D data viz & storytelling, so I gave it two NYC datasets: · every building in Manhattan and the year it was built · every weekday subway trip I asked it to animate each one as a 3D timelapse. It made these:

overall opus 5.5 was really good at this! it cleaned and normalized the data automatically, projected it on a map across 4+ dimensions, generated every frame & animated it, proactively added zoom-based annotations, and found interesting qualities in the data to dig into.

it’s surprisingly easy to make bad maps/excruciatingly hard to make good maps. opus 5.5 knocked this out mostly from a simple prompt, including finding which datasets to use.

opus 5.5 is subtly more opinionated than other models. it’s quite good at persuading you to follow a particular path vs sharing impartial advice
