As of today, you can schedule Substack Notes alongside your other social channels in Buffer. 🎉 Notes are commonly where Substack writers are seeing growth, but they are also unplanned for many writers. Now with Buffer and Substack you can: → Plan your Notes in advance and schedule them with the rest of your channels, in one place. → See how many free and paid subscribers each Note brought in, so you know which writing converts. → Track impressions and follows per Note alongside your other analytics. → Turn a line from your latest newsletter into a Note. Substack Notes is available on every Buffer plan, including free. Writing on Substack? Drop your publication below, and we'll follow along.

@buffer The growing number of posting failures due to the inability to access a media URL is annoying. Why do you suggest media during tweet creation if you can't access the media URL later, resulting in a failed post?

The increasing frequency of failed posts – this morning 2 from different authors - does not point to a technical issue on the authors' sites. It's a problem with your media prefetching for the tweet; you seem to ignore bot restrictions on authors' sites.

Ack! That is not a good experience. I'm going to check in with our tech team on this and we'll circle back as soon as we can! - Mel

Found a bug in @buffer . Even after using split post to threads via the #Beta feature or manually it still says the error The text exceeds the 500 character limit. Please edit and retry the post. Even manually inspecting each segment they are within the limits.

Hi Lavanya! Thanks for flagging this. It looks to be related to the same issue you wrote in about on 15 September. We're working on a fix and hopefully will have this resolved soon. Apologies for the disruption! - Mel

The five most important things you need to know about the @x algorithm: 1. X tests each post with a small group of users, scores it based on early engagement (especially replies and saves), then expands or limits its reach accordingly. 2. Replies and "reply-to-reply" interactions provide the highest reach boosts. 3. Premium subscribers receive a major boost, while multimedia and trending topics offer additional visibility. 4. User reports and blocks/mutes severely damage your account's standing. 5. Original, thoughtful posts that offer a clear perspective, feel complete, and align closely with your audience’s interests are more likely to perform well and reach the right people.

Hello again, Ciprian! I can see there are a few different conversations happening. Would you be okay with us continuing the discussion in the email thread? It is helpful to have everything in one place. If you prefer to chat here instead, just say the word. For now, we're checking what we can do on our end since the account is long deleted. We'll circle back to your email once we have an update! - Mel

Hi there, Ciprian, I can't find a Buffer account associated with your X profile. Would you mind sharing your Buffer account email with us in a DM so we can first take a look at the buff.ly links generated by your account? -Juliet (she/her)

@buffer I would have liked what you intended to accomplish in the recent updates… Just not at the expense of the most basic simple rudimentary task of P🤬STING! Equally unacceptable (or worse) losing the time/thought/text bc I used in-app comp/editor, instead of a C&P kludge.

@buffer How can I invalidate all links created from my account? The pages are long gone from my website, but I still have hundreds being reported in Google Search Console.

Any updates? I'm sure it's just an SQL query to remove them, and another one for any relationships.

Saying it here rather than only on a status page is the right instinct. Most people never find the status page, they just assume they broke something, and the post that cuts support volume the most is the one that goes out before the fix does.

Hi, three of the FAQs on the launch page have these internal reminders at the end of their answers that must’ve slipped through. You should clean up those.

Oops. It's me again, Dave. It's same the one from before. Manually posted, so I didn't even bother to post it on Bluesky. Thanks again for the prompt response.

If you’re up for it, we’d love to help get this sorted out. Is this happening with all of your channels and every time you try to create a post? If possible, a screen recording of you creating the post would be really helpful. Could you also let us know which app version you’re using? -Ben

Yesterday, I ranted about bad advice from "algo experts." The quote below is a recent example from an account with nearly 1M followers. But I need to own up to my OWN bad advice as well. I taught people to camp on a post and answer the early comments. I said the algorithm paid extra when the author replied. That was wrong, and I am taking it down. The number everyone still quotes, 75, is from the old heavy ranker in 2023. It was a prediction: the chance that a viewer replies and the author then engages. It was not a bonus you collected by sitting in your replies. It is not in the code X publishes now. Nothing in that repo scores “the author answered” or that "replies count more." Likes and reposts are what the later jobs store. A reply does not open the lists a like opens, and it does not add to the credibility score. Answering the comment does not raise the original. People are still selling the 2023 table as if it were current, including this week. I did too. Old posts that say it are being deleted. Articles that include it are being corrected. If you learned “reply to your commenters or the post dies” from me, that was my error. Buffer's error is that most of what it tells you is just plain wrong. Only #5 passes scrutiny in the published code. The rest is folklore.

Thanks Tom. The article behind this was written in February, and I should have checked that it was still relevant before posting it. We will update it. One note on #3: the Premium visibility finding comes from our own analysis of 2M posts shared via Buffer in 2025, not X's code. I should have framed it that way - Mike (@Mike_Eck)

The first four things are simply untrue. Folklore or leftover items from the 23 repo. There's nothing in the current code that supports replies boosting reach or a small sample of your followers for early distribution.
