What motives Mamdani is the same thing that motivated young Obama - to ascend to the ranks of the global elite. The right debates whether he's an islamist in communist clothing or the other way around, when the more mundane explanation is that he's a striver, like all of us, and seeks relevence and power above all else. He likely thought he would spend his life as a middling DSA apparatchik, and so his luxury beliefs about global intifadas or wealth redistribution or racial reparations cost him nothing to maintain. He then fell into one of the most powerful political positions in the world at near terminal velocity, a rise not unlike Obama's in the mid 00s. He has now adjusted expecations, reoriented himself around the idea that he has the rare opportunity to leave an actual legacy and aquire control. Multiple mayorships, a run for governor, the cultural figurehead of the entire democratic party. His gestures toward Trump, the Jews, and his retractions of previously radical stances (arresting Bibi etc) aren't two faced 5D chess moves, but the rational calculations of someone who has outgrown juvenile revolutionary leftism, with all it's romantic allure, and tasted real power. Obama's radicalism was interrogated as well; his middle name, his asssociations, his youthful activism, but in the end he proved a stunningly vacant figure with no real beliefs or interiority. In a sense, those embarassing summer playlists he releases are the truest thing about him - a collage of meaningless signifiers authored by one in particular. Obama's vapidity has been most apparent in old age, wherein he persues no agenda and champions no cause, instead hanging out with Gen X idols like Bruce Springstein and producing somewhat bingeable TV miniseries for Netflix and HBO. He got what he wanted, to rise for rising's sake, and Mamdani will meet the same fate. The the thing to follow, also in parallel to Obama, will be the loyalty of his wife, who will have to decide weather she is actually a kiffeyah-laden rebel, or the first lady of the empire's central city. I expect the seductive status of the second to overwhelm the sentimentality of the first.

Bloomberg just dropped the most disturbing investigation I have read this year, and every AI builder should read it and take it seriously. On February 28, two Tomahawk missiles hit an elementary school in Minab, a small town in southern Iran. 156 people died. At least 123 were children. The Pentagon knew within hours that it had bombed a school. The school had its own website. It was labeled on Google Maps. You could see the soccer pitch from a satellite view. You could see the brightly painted walls. Any 12-year-old with a browser could tell what the building was. The AI system could not. Inside US Central Command, personnel were using Palantir's Maven Smart System. It is an AI targeting platform running on a $1.3 billion Pentagon contract, and embedded inside it is Anthropic's Claude. On day one of the war, more than 1,000 targets went through it in 24 hours. Work that used to take a team hours per target got compressed into minutes. The satellite imagery Maven was pulling from was seven years old. The site was still tagged in the database as an Islamic Revolutionary Guard facility. The system spat it out as a recommended day-one target. Humans signed off. The first missile flew. Then a second one landed minutes later to hit the people who came to help. Investigators later found that some Central Command staff had assumed Maven would flag stale intelligence for them. It did not. Nobody had told it to. Palantir told Bloomberg the government is responsible for the underlying data. The Pentagon's civilian harm mitigation team, the people whose actual job is to catch a target like this, had been cut back before the war started. This is not AI going rogue. This is the opposite. This is AI doing exactly what it was built to do at exactly the speed it was built to do it. And a school full of little girls got vaporized because the humans in the loop trusted the machine more than they trusted their own eyes. I keep thinking about the version of this story that comes next. What happens when the system is faster. When the target list is not 1,000 in a day but 10,000. When "review" becomes a button the operator has three seconds to hit before the next target loads. When there is no human left slow enough to notice that a soccer pitch is not a helipad. We are not talking about a spam filter mislabeling an email. We are talking about a system that turned a seven-year-old database entry into two cruise missiles landing on children in the middle of a morning class. A UN-backed panel has now called it a potential war crime. In terms of children killed, it is the deadliest American targeting error of the entire 21st century. And according to Bloomberg, some of Defense Secretary Hegseth's own advisors are worried that too much public scrutiny of Maven might slow down its adoption inside the Pentagon. Read that last line again. If you build this stuff, you own what it does. You do not get to hide behind "the government owns the data." The whole pitch of your product is that speed and integration save lives. When it takes them instead, that is also on you. I am not against AI in defense. I am against AI in a hurry. Speed is the entire mechanism that made Minab possible. Every guardrail we already know how to build takes time, and time is exactly what the system was designed to eliminate. So here is the question I have not been able to stop asking, and I genuinely want to know what you think. If a piece of software helped kill 123 children in a single morning while behaving exactly as designed, what does "responsible AI" even mean anymore?

Now, even though this manufactured fight is primarily a proxy war for the control of crude oil, natural gas, and rare earth minerals buried deep in the seabed and under thick forest canopies in the region, and even though these warlords receive direct covert funding, weapons, and diplomatic cover from foreign governments to engage in this destruction of their own state, the gullible people being recruited do not even bother to conduct basic research. Their blind affinity for their tribe, their emotional attachment to the past, and their toxic cultural pride are so overwhelmingly strong that it completely blocks all forms of logic and reason. The exact same material analysis holds true for the heavily exploited Niger Delta region as well as the South West region. We have already begun to see dangerous pockets of terrorism and armed thuggery in Osun state, Lagos suburbs, and border towns, alongside a highly suspicious new wave of the Oduduwa Republic movement propping up. Toxic religion and arrogant cultural pride have been carefully, systematically, and deliberately injected into every single community, ward, and local government in Nigeria. The parasitic political class ruthlessly invokes these divisions to their absolute advantage, depending entirely on which specific bias serves their selfish interests with regards to the political climate of that election cycle. If they desperately need to win votes from their own ethnic base, they immediately engage in loud tribal jingoism, ethnic baiting, and regional fear-mongering. They expertly convince the impoverished masses that a vote for the politician is a sacred vote for the "tribe," and thus the people are easily seduced into thinking the election is a literal battle for the survival, dominance, and glory of their ethnic group. Hence, they foolishly celebrate the electoral victory of a corrupt billionaire politician as a collective win for the tribe, even though there is absolutely zero material evidence, historical precedent, or economic data to support this delusional line of thinking. The brainwashed people predictably end up having no stable electricity, no paved road networks, no clean drinking water, no functional public schools, and absolutely terrible healthcare, while the victorious politicians continue to loot the treasury dry, buy luxury real estate abroad, and fly their entire families to London, Dubai, or Paris for basic medical checkups. This is not to say that the people do not recognize this scam. They know from bitter, repeated experience that their wealthy tribesmen never actually return to develop the tribe, build local factories, or empower the youth when they win these elections. But the deep-seated cultural and religious programming is so incredibly strong, intoxicating, and blinding that it continuously overwrites, deletes, and completely neutralizes any painful experience, logical deduction, or harsh economic lessons the people might have learned during the miserable four-year period between every election. Like clockwork, they predictably return to the streets to dance around cultural pride, tribal bigotry, and religious sentiments during every single new election cycle. This psychological vulnerability is precisely one of the core reasons Mao Zedong ruthlessly launched a Cultural Revolution in China: to permanently prevent the minds of the working class from being easily hijacked, manipulated, and weaponized by the domestic political class, wealthy landlords, and foreign imperial interests to work against the survival of their own state. India never had the courage to execute such a radical cultural purge, and today, their massive population continues to be violently divided along the rigid lines of caste, religion, language, and regionalism, which further sets them up for endless political manipulation and corporate exploitation. For Nigeria to ever truly work, industrialize, and achieve absolute sovereignty, these parasitic feudal systems, tribal loyalties, and deeply ingrained elements of subservience in our traditional cultures must be systematically dismantled in their entirety, uprooted from our psychology, and burned completely to the ground. Only within those purified ashes can we finally erect a brand-new, scientifically grounded philosophical system that is completely resilient to Imperialism, forging a powerful, unbreakable new national identity to permanently unite the entire working class of Nigeria.
