“The premier needed a favour from Postmedia”: In a sworn declaration, Postmedia ex-CEO Paul Godfrey claims Doug Ford’s former chief of staff told his son that approval of a Skills Development Fund grant depended on Postmedia publishing the premier’s pre-election letter #onpoli
ICYMI: Paul Godfrey alleged Premier Ford's office exerted "political leverage" over his son's company by promising it government funding while also seeking a favour from Postmedia, which the elder Godfrey used to run. Godfrey's full sworn declaration is here & @Thetrilliumca.

Olivia Chow is reading every single answer to every question. Bradford glances at notes, but Chow reads verbatim. She doesn’t think on her feet. This was her reading her answer to what would you do if plans don’t work out and the unexpected happens.

🇨🇦⛔️🏘️🤡 : The House of Commons goes into frenetic chaos after Mark Carney blames 10 years of Liberal governance, for the high cost of living in Canada. Amazingly enough, many of the Liberal MPs Carney blames for the poor state of Canada, stand up & cheer on his words, with big smiles on their faces. Carney claims he just got into the Prime Ministerial role, despite being elected 18 months ago. Carney vows he will continue to fix the very mess so many of his fellow Liberal MPs created, over an 11 year span.

Exactly with the Liberals you always have to read the fine print Did everybody hear the "for now" in @SeanFraserMP statement today Liberals are just a bunch of gamers who have absolutely no regard for people with disabilities & every single action they haven't taken is proof
Canada will NOT be moving forward with MAID ( medical assistance in D.Y.1.N.G) for mental illness (for now.)

In Parliament, MP Dean Allison reflected on the Allison Inquiry and its purpose: to listen to Canadians injured by Covid-19 vaccines. He spoke about the four days of deeply emotional testimony, including witnesses who came forward on behalf of family members who had died. Among them was Crystal, who testified about her brother Scott Gorry, a former Parliament Hill employee who had hoped to testify himself before his death. Dean Allison recognized the courage of the witnesses who travelled from across Canada, as well as the MPs, Shawn and Teresa Buckley, volunteers, and families who made the Inquiry possible. “The stories were difficult, but they needed to be heard.” The testimony was heard. Now, the stories must not be forgotten. @DeanAllisonMP @Shawnbuckleylaw
I’ll deliver a statement on the @AllisonInquiry in Parliament today around 2pm

Exactly
The Liberal Government is incredibly sly. They intend to table a bill banning death for depression WHILE expanding death for dementia. Those properly opposed to euthanasia will not be able to support this bill, despite having campaigned for months to stop MAID for mental illness.

Agreed! I didn't hear #CBC #CBCNews call out to @TamaraJansenMP brother who was offered MAID six times > Coercion I didn't hear of any additional funding for people with disabilities coming from the liberal government who broke their national disability benefit promises
My colleague @TamaraJansenMP has done incredible work with her bill C-218 to stop the reckless and dangerous expansion of MAID access to those suffering solely from a mental illness. The Liberals should stop stalling and vote in favour of her bill this afternoon.

I didn't hear any coverage on the national news that the original legislation that C218 was trying to be stop was done through time allocations during the height of covid I do not trust the liberal government to do the right thing for people with disabilities at at all!!

Colourism is against the charter rights The 15.2 advantage loophole is being abused
🇨🇦⚫️⚖️💰 : Tyler Boyce calls on the Federal government to fund $100 million a year for a black justice strategy, over at least the next 5 years. Why does Canada need a different justice strategy for black people? It sends a terrible message to the black community if our justice system says black criminals are also victims of an unjust society. It's abusive to all victims of crime in Canada if our justice system says black victims of crime are more deserving of justice and support, simply based on race. How will such funding be measured for success?

There is no legislation yet and they are voting no on today's bill because of wording it's a stall tactic and when they introduced their bill they want to introduce it with other items which will just compound the issue once again liberals just need to pass the C218 this afternoon

Saying it and actually having legislations to stop it is another thing they are using the non-passage of c218 this afternoon overwording it's semantics They want to introduce new legislation for advance authorization for people that have disorders such as dementia that if it gets too bad that those people can get killed which is fine but they shouldn't be combined they should just be two separate bills
‼️JUST IN FINALLY THE LIBERALS HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING

Agreed not one word about the disability support increases or welfare support increases or senior support increases in Sean Fraser's update today it's all stall tactics and I'm tired of it
Replying to @SeanFraserMP
@SeanFraserMP you care more about medical providers not being held criminally responsible for killing disabled Canadians than you do about making sure disabled Canadians have the resources to live. You don't care about disabled Canadians being neglected by every level of gov

You odviously don't understand the issue and Sean Fraser's statement
I think you missed part of the headline "Canada plans to decriminalize MAiD for people who are incapable of consent"i.e. for older women with dementia who will overwhelmingly be the victims of this.

I'm not surprised at the level of cruelty this decision entails from the @MarkJCarney government. What's important is not the well-being of the person suffering, but how others might think about it.

As a person with disabilities I do not trust the Liberals government as they have constantly broken promises towards the disability community since 2019! A liberal statement is not a law When are the Liberals going to stop neglecting persons with disabilities across Canada and give them the financial support they need for their basic needs and wraparound services as called out by the UN when they told Canada to repeal assisted suicide death MAID? When is the government going to treat the #UNCRPD treaty with the same respect as the #UNDRIP treaty??!!! @janycemcgregor @CBCAlerts @CBCNews @CBCTheNational @SeanFraserMP @TamaraJansenMP @CanadianPM @PierrePoilieve #CBCNews #CTVNews
Replying to @MarjoriePLC
Canada also intends to allow adults diagnosed with an illness such as early-stage Alzheimer’s to make an advance request for MAID, so their wishes could be respected after they lose the ability to decide for themselves.

Canada all hands on deck! Remember people with disabilities are fighting for your rights as much as their own just because you don't need them today doesn't mean you won't need them tomorrow just ask anyone who has been involved in a mass shooting or a car accident or a work accident and many more other ways

We need other people supporting us and holding the government responsible 👏 disabled people are easily ignored 🙁
