Coordinating a shared network at scale requires more than one governing body. @CantonFdn's committee structure splits that work by function across tokenomics, technical development, and accountability for the institutions running it. @Cantor8 breaks down how it's structured.
The @CantonFdn is key to overseeing and maintaining the @CantonNetwork itself. However, the foundation itself is not one single beast... Within the Foundation, exist several committees, made up of high calibre members, and with responsibilities over various areas of ecosystem operations. They span everything from technological development, through to marketing and legal matters, but here are some of the most important... Tokenomics Committee: The Tokenomics Committee oversees one of the most crucial aspects of The Canton Network ecosystem - The economics and tokenomics of $CC. It effectively governs the economic parameters of Canton Coin. This means calibrating fee structures, determining traffic parameters, and even reviewing applications from potential Featured Apps. Tech & Ops Committee: The Tech & Ops Committee oversees all the network's technological development, from directing architectural upgrades, through to tech-focused CIPs. It also evaluates and distributes builder grants and proposals from the Canton Development Fund. Accountability Committee: As the name suggests, this committee is there to ensure accountability among ecosystem participants like Super Validators and Featured Apps. It ensures milestones are hit, while even suggesting remediation action for underperformance. This is really just a taste. As the Canton ecosystem grows and matures, so too does the Canton Foundation's committee system. There are even various subcommittees, such as the Collateral Subcommittee, recently joined by @Cashen_cc and whose purpose is to design and govern the protocols that allow financial institutions to undertake tokenised collateral across the Canton Network.

Canton Network is the first blockchain to successfully marry real Privacy, with workable Compliance. Here's how it does it in under 60 seconds. Most blockchains present a false trade-off. Either... Reveal your entire balance/activity to every node on the network. Or... Obscure everything on fully anonymous chains. Canton eliminates this dilemma by decoupling consensus from data visibility through sub-transaction privacy. Instead of broadcasting entire state changes, @CantonNetwork uses Daml smart contracts to split a single transaction into encrypted sub-views. Participants of all kinds only see the exact slice of data necessary to execute their role. Compliance, meanwhile, is integrated directly into the contract logic rather than added after the fact. @DigitalAsset's Daml language allows developers to add programmatic observer roles for regulators, auditors, compliance officers, etc. These parties receive real-time data views natively, making sure participants in regulated sectors can remain fully compliant, without leaking data to everyone with an internet connection and the inclination. Put really simply... Canton has found an architectural way to maintain default privacy on sensitive data, while making sure it is available to only the parties that need to see it.

Some of the past week's most impactful Canton ecosystem updates, to ensure you don't get left behind... (1) New proposal draft submitted that would see legendary firm @a16z become a Canton Network super validator. (2) @CantonNetwork outpaces every other blockchain for monthly fee generation, with $49.95M in the past 30-day per DefiLlama data. (3) Financial giant, Goldman Sachs, also proposed as a potential Canton Network super validator. (4) Canton-based RWA perps DEX @Canborsa_DEX opens up trading competition with a $16,000 prize pool. (5) @Cashen_cc has officially onboarded more than 65+ different platforms to its marketplace. (6) Hong Kong's Digital Bond Development White Paper 2026, originally released in June, explicitly includes the Canton Network as part of its architectural plans. (7) @SwapMonster_ announces that @OnRailsFinance's cETH is now live on its platform.

Privacy does not equal anonymity. On Canton, data moves on a need-to-know basis, giving institutions the control that payroll, institutional lending, and trading actually require, while maintaining compliance. Full breakdown from @Cantor8.
Privacy - Why it Matters. For most of us, our journey into crypto began with a public blockchain like @Ethereum or @Solana. But the reality is that, with a fully public blockchain, everything you do (your balances and entire activity history) is available to anyone with an internet connection and the inclination. While this might be fine for flipping memecoins or messing around onchain, it simply doesn't make sense for real, regulated use cases. Here are three examples of blockchain use cases that NEED a @CantonNetwork-shaped solution... (1) Payroll: Payroll onchain benefits from reduced costs, 24/7 settlement, and much more, but involves sensitive information. Can you imagine a world where everyone you know, colleagues and friends, can immediately see how much you've been paid and how much you hold? (2) High Frequency Trading: HFT firms also have a lot to gain from blockchain rails, including settlement times, composability, and all-new opportunities. However, if you're a firm operating on small but frequent margins, front-running is unacceptable. Public mempools create front-running risk that eats into profitability and efficiency. (3) Institutional Lending & Private Credit: Tokenising private loans allows lenders to pool capital and automate repayments. However, loan agreements contain proprietary interest rates, corporate secrets, and strict NDAs. Public ledgers force you to choose between compliance and onchain efficiency, which is a trade-off institutions cannot make. While there are other 'private' blockchains, the reality is that these networks are 'anonymous', not private. This is what makes Canton truly unique - Its ability to preserve and share data with need-to-know parties only, thereby maintaining compliance by default. This is, in part, where our conviction comes from.

Understanding The Role of The Canton Foundation. Led by @viv_diwakar, The @CantonFdn is one of (if not the) most important components of the @CantonNetwork ecosystem. Origins... It was originally launched in July 2024, alongside Canton mainnet, as the Global Synchronizer Foundation (GSF), but has since rebranded to the Canton Foundation we know today. Its mission, however, has not changed: Create neutral, open governance for the network. Structure... The Foundation is built as an independent, not-for-profit body so that no single entity (like Digital Asset or a single firm) can dictate network policy alone. Various world-leading institutions are represented within the Foundation. These include household names like Goldman Sachs, Tradeweb, and a whole suite of others. Within the Foundation exist several committees like: - The Tokenomics Committee ( $CC network economics) - The Accountability Committee (SV tracking, milestone completion, etc) - Tech & Ops Committee (tech roadmap, CIPs, etc) Current Role... The Foundation's role is widespread, and effectively encompasses every aspect of the Canton ecosystem, from development funding and grants, through to the tokenomic mechanisms that underpin the whole ecosystem. Perhaps most importantly, however, the Foundation ensures and manages the smooth running of the Global Synchronizer - The component that allows Canton's network of networks to actually interoperate. Why This Matters... Canton has made a name for itself as the network most capable of onboarding large, regulated institutions. But it is the Foundation that helps allow for this by giving a guarantee of fair, non-monopolised access to Canton's shared financial infrastructure. Beyond this, it is through the Foundation that Canton's growing ecosystem of applications has been fostered and, in part, funded. The Foundation's role and structure is ultimately too sophisticated to boil down in a single post, but hopefully this starts to paint the picture of why it is such an important component of the ecosystem we've all chosen to build in.
