Inspired by the GOAT @tekkusai, I’d also like to take a moment to give the community a little more transparency into the people behind Aeperion. Huge thanks to @theillmeister, @plusm_2021 , and @thawzie for the incredible photography and for always presenting our products at their best. @huddledaim for understanding what Aeperion is trying to build, and turning that vision into a website that finally feels like us. @cares_atelier for bringing Shimo-Quartz to life through the illustration. @FortePadX for consistently delivering excellent product quality, and for always giving us the support we need throughout development and production. And at the end of the day, Aeperion is still an incredibly small team. Just two people: me, and my partner in China, who is on site everyday in our factory and takes care of most of our product development and QC. A huge part of why we can take pride in the products we deliver comes from the work he puts in behind the scenes. And to everyone who purchased Shimo-Quartz or anything from the Gem Collection: thank you. It genuinely means a lot to me and to our tiny team. We definitely didn’t do everything perfectly with this drop, and there are still things we want to improve. But the amount of support you’ve shown us has been overwhelming in the best possible way. Seeing people care about what we’re building makes all the small details, late nights, and ridiculous amount of overthinking feel worth it. On a side note, I think building a brand is actually pretty simple. You need love for what you’re making, passion to keep going, and a little extra care where most people would say, “good enough.” Then somehow, all those little things start adding up. People start to notice and people start to care. And that’s when it starts becoming a brand. At least this is how Aeperion become Aeperion.

There is a lot inside Shimo-Quartz that cannot be explained properly in a single post. So alongside the product, we rebuilt the Aeperion website to make everything easier to explore. We also created an infographics explaining the surface, protection, tuning options, and the reasoning behind each detail. I do not want people to buy Shimo-Quartz only because it looks beautiful. What it is, how it works, and whether it is right for you matters too. We have also restocked almost the entire Gem Collection. The new website makes it much easier to compare each surface and understand which pad best suits the way you play. Take some time to explore everything we have been building. Hello everyone. Here's my review of the @AeperionHQ Shimo Quartz, a pad that has quickly become one of the favorites within my collection. From it playing like Yusui to feeling like Mio, this pad really grabbed a lot of what I love from other pads and bundled it together. I’ve heard a lot of feedback around the direction we took with Shimo-Quartz. Some of you believe Aeperion should remain strictly minimal. Others are excited to see us explore something more expressive. I’ve heard both sides clearly, and I genuinely value both perspectives. Aeperion will not grow by ignoring disagreement. These different voices help us understand what people value about the brand, and how we can move forward without losing what made Aeperion meaningful in the first place. Beyond the Shimo-Quartz launch, here is what we are preparing for the coming month: 1. A Shimo cloth pad, bringing the character into a more familiar performance format. 2. The accessories introduced alongside all released Aeperion product will also be available separately. 3. A minimalist glasspad under Crafted to Perform, for those who want Aeperion’s performance philosophy in a more restrained visual language. 4. A new black speed cloth pad, dubbed “Obsidian”which we have been developing for countless days and nights. Shimo-Quartz is one expression of Aeperion but not the only one. Thank you for speaking honestly, whether you loved the direction or challenged it. Your feedback matters more than you may realize.

Really appreciate these thoughtful first impressions. One thing I want to clarify before launch: when we talk about performance, we do not mean blindly chasing the fastest possible surface. Shimo-Quartz is certainly on the faster side, but the “best” performance profile should ultimately be defined by the player using it. That is why every Shimo-Quartz includes two curated grip options and three skate profiles. The surface remains the same, but the way you experience its glide, feedback, and stopping power can change significantly depending on how you tune it by changing the skates. I also want to be honest: Shimo-Quartz will have imperfections, and it may not be the right pad for everyone. This is our first glasspad, and I would rather make that clear now than pretend we have created something universally perfect. But if you have read this far, understand what we are trying to build, and still choose to support us, that means more to me than I can properly express. I love you guys. Thank you for giving a small brand the room to keep learning.

My Initial Thoughts of the Aeperion Shimo-Quartz: I received this pad knowing absolutely nothing about it, from the design to the performance I was clueless. When I first touched the pad I could immediately tell it was an extreme speed pad because it reminded me of the way the Dysphoria Mio felt, and I was right it has a notable texture and while it does have some pushdown it isn't as extreme as other pads in the same area. The speed is very high edging out a lot of pads such as the Sayo and even keeping up with Yuyo to some degree. (I'll post this later) It comes with 3 skates, and I was shocked to see just how skate dependent the pad was. I was using the speed skates the pad comes with, and I honestly found them hard to control on the Shimo initially when I was using them on the Kyomi Yuyo (One of the fastest pads currently) completely fine. The textured feedback does help keep some control though so it's not fully lose with the speed skates. I switched to their black dots which are the most controlled, and the way of play completely changed. It kept its snappy and quick motions, but it was now able to stop on a dime when needed and slowed down the pad enough to where I didn't worry about losing control. Lastly, I want to comment on just how beautiful the design is because it's genuinely my favorite design yet. I'm glad they took a different direction from just a plain pad and hope others can enjoy it as much as me. Overall, this initial experience using the pad has been extremely unique, and I'll be uploading some drop tests of this pad on my page soon! Look out for my full review in the coming weeks!

The reaction to Shimo-Quartz has been divided, and that is understandable. Aeperion has always been recognized for minimalism, restraint, and performance. None of that is going away. This identity remains within Crafted to Perform, which is our Gem collection series(Chrysolite, Quartz and Cordierite ) Shimo-Quartz belongs to Crafted to Empower. This is a separate space where performance can coexist with character, emotion, and expression. We also curated a complete ecosystem for Shimo-Quartz. One does not replace the other. Aeperion now has room for both.
