J.P. Morgan's model has the GPU-to-CPU ratio falling from 4.0x in 2024 to 1.9x by 2028.
The number of CPUs attached to every GPU roughly doubles in four years, from one CPU for every four GPUs to about one for every two, and that's on top of GPU shipments that are still growing every year.
Believe it or not, this is the conservative take. TrendForce expects agentic deployments to move toward one or two GPUs per CPU, and Lip-Bu Tan said at JPM's own conference that some frontier labs are telling him it's four CPUs to one GPU.
Every orchestration step and every sandbox an agent spins up runs on a CPU, and Meta just gave every Muse user their own always-on VM. The GPU does the thinking while the CPU handles everything around it, and everything around it is growing faster.
