Many of them are reporting bumper profits which they use to buy their own stock and reward shareholders and executives. If they were increasing prices in response to higher costs, as they claim, there would be no increased profits. 2/3

Arguably it's not fair to expect journalists to understand all the topics they write about. They'd have to be polymaths to do that. But cases like this should remind us that they don't.
The striking thing about this survey of infectious disease experts' predictions is not that the predictions are dire, though some are, but how much variation there is. And if these people don't know what's going to happen, that means no one does.
