SEC Corporation Finance staff published crypto FAQs today.
On a working protocol, a token buyback is not automatically treated as managerial effort.
Liquid staking tokens can be treated as commodities or tools, not securities, in the cases staff described.
Routine upkeep and talking about utility without promising profit also get more room.
This is staff guidance, not a final Commission rule.
