I unfortunately had to say goodbye to my kitty today. Nearly 14 years of amazing moments together. It's been a battle of emotions all day getting good news followed by the worst news. My little coding buddy will be missed.

Started a project to make a BLE adapter to use the GBA as a controller on BlueRetro, turned into a wireless link cable for GC to GBA. Still a lot to flush out, but 4 Swords works need to iron out some latency issues. Also need to test other games.

New update for GameCube BlueRetro internal adapters. Some fixes: @retrofightersco Battler Pro controller, now fully supported in Xinput mode Companion app had cut off some of the text at the top of the live input view screen. It also contains initial support for our LCD Jewel project allowing for controller management from the Jewel, and it will identify what controllers are connected to each port with icons of the specific controller. github.com/LaserBearIndustri…

Been busy at the shop GameCube PD/PPS internal and external adapters are starting to ship. External adapters are going a bit slower, there are only two people at the shop who can solder and one is out sick.

#LCDJewel is finally making progress! New MCU with double buffered 60fps! MJPEG video playback and GameID are working. Redesigning the setting menus next. Hardware seems to be in good shape. A little bit of waiting for the ESP32-S31 to be in mass production, but the hardware finally is powerful enough.

Why hello ESP32-S31. Now to implement the hardware jpeg decoding let's get this thing to push 30fps or more in mjpeg video

BlueRetro GameCube v26.08.3_LBI release with Companion v0.25. New standout feature is online updating via BBA. Currently this feature is not useful unless already on v26.08.3_LBI Works on all 3 versions of our adapter, untested on standalone dongles, but the code compiles cleanly. Video shows mapping and online updater. github.com/LaserBearIndustri…

It has taken a little while to get this to the point I was comfortable to do a release. I am not supporting the full BlueRetro suite, but instead doing just GameCube at the moment with my changes. Tested and confirmed working all all versions of our BlueRetro Adapter. Must be flashed from the web config. HW1 image is experimental and untested use at your own risk. Changelog: BlueRetro Companion App (must install new firmware to use) Firmware Updates Directly on GameCube Interactive Controller Mappings Per Controller Mappings (Only applies to BR Companion) NSO GameCube Controller Fixes created by Ryan Copley and Claude TrippleTap and hold reset button holds console reset until released, to facilitate hot swapping Game-boy Games in GBI Removed double tap to shutdown, was too easy to accidentally hit. Power on fix for v3.5 boards, so they correctly follow last state when console is power cycled. Blank/Empty Controller port fix, when a Bluetooth device fails to connect it will sometimes keep a port stuck this update forces those ports to release and swap controllers into open ports. github.com/LaserBearIndustri…

Retired a large chunk of our Prusa MK3 fleet over the last few months. Now I have a ton of Raspberry Pi 3/4 to find some uses for. Most will get repurposed as test fixtures for QA at the shop.

The PS3 RSX Pro Delid Tool is now available. thepeacefuloutcome.com/shop/… This upgraded tool is designed for those who want to delid many PS3 RSX chips. This is a complete redesign of our standard RSX tool. It is now made from a much stronger and heat tolerant material. So, you can heat the RSX lid if you want (though its not necessary). All new geometry increases the tool's rigidity. It also gives it ~60% more lift than the standard tool, so it pops every lid. The metal insert on the blade is held on with adhesive now, so it does not pop out. Finally, we added a washer under the bolt head to distribute the load and reduce wear on the frame. We will still be selling the standard RSX delid tool as an affordable option for those who just need to delid a few RSX chips. thepeacefuloutcome.com/shop/…

We will be opening pre-orders up on our new safe USB-C Power interface for the GameCube at 10 CST (~2h from this post) They will be eligible for the Independence Day sale as an added bonus for early pre-orders. In case you missed the earlier posts about this product: Our USB-C interface board offers new features. Negotiated PD protection, the MCU will validate the correct voltage is being negotiated, and that the PSU is able to handle the current draw needed by the GameCube to protect both the GameCube and the USB adapter. Our adapter can negotiate PD12, AVS, and PPS for wider compatibility with newer PSUs which lack the depreciated PD12 standard. The internal version has a soft power button a single press will toggle power on and off as needed. laserbear.net/products/gamec…

It's crazy what 26 years does for PSU tech. The new 45w GaN chargers are positively tiny compared to the original 39w Nintendo PSU the one pictured by UGreen the smallest I've found so far.

Some days prototyping gets a little involved lol. Counting out CAS latency on a scope for the next stage of a project.

The goal of this project is Plug and Play Ram expansion. This working 16MiB is what is connected to the scope, but that module is unobtainium, the final project will use modern 32MiB modules, if it works lol.
