#LCDJewel is finally making progress! New MCU with double buffered 60fps! MJPEG video playback and GameID are working. Redesigning the setting menus next. Hardware seems to be in good shape. A little bit of waiting for the ESP32-S31 to be in mass production, but the hardware finally is powerful enough.

Dude!! That’s next level with the disc. Be neat to have it show fixed in position and then moment later spin up as it’s booting.

I'm thinking about doing a space world 2000 mask and make a disk spinning animation under the little window.

Greg I really want this, the SNES and Dreamcast Bluetooth internal controller port(s). I need these as well. I love the GameCube one a lot. I'd like the SNES and Dreamcast to be just as good as that one.

Yup, that's where I want to take this project after I finish the GC version. I already started work on being able to pull the data that some of the modchips can output to those character displays as a source for GameID

I know you're testing but if you standardize a disc template can you make the disc center clear on a black bg?

Yes, I would probably do masks since there is no native PNG support with transparency. This disk image was just taken from a game store page since it looked clean. One thing I am concerned with for the release is I probably can't include any existing art for legal reasons. I'm working on a web page to upload files and prepare them for use on the Jewel, especially videos since that requires an uncompressed MJPEG format with custom frame timing.

Yes, it will require taking the lid apart which will be the hardest part just due to the spring. I just ordered samples of the test flex. Which will come with double sided tape on it and just folds around the pivot like in this photo.

K, weird thing to complain about. Lucky for you it's a splash image loaded from SD so you don't have to put it on.

Can you also run the game's video to it as well?

I'll have to see if there are any in production CVBS to DVP ADC on the market anymore at reasonable prices. I might have enough open GPIO to handle something like that. Last time I looked the ones I found were EoL and priced extremely high for NOS chips.

What's the power draw on this? Can it run on the GameCube's power supply comfortably?

Probably around 6W with WiFi on, or 4W wifi off. It taps the external power supply so doesn't even bring down the internal regulators.

So glad to see progress being made. This is one of the things I have been excited about since you originally mentioned it. Feels like the final mod to make the perfect Game Cube.

That is excellent news! I hope it can also read the games from the FlippyDrive's Cubebot, a bootloader that has become my favorite recently. Greetings from Peru
