(5/6) Responding to the TRC’s Calls to Action 72-76, Canada is committed to acting on the recommendations of Kimberly Murray, the Independent Special Interlocutor for Missing Children and Unmarked Graves and Burial Sites associated with Indian Residential Schools.
(4/6) Between 1831 and 1996, at least 150,000 First Nation, Inuit and Métis children were sent to Indian residential schools. Thousands never returned home. Canada is supporting Indigenous Peoples as they undertake the important work of uncovering the truth.
(3/6) On the 8th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Final Report, we honour the Survivors who courageously spoke about their horrific experiences at Indian Residential Schools, including the truth about missing children and unmarked graves and burial sites.

As @saints_gambit mentioned yesterday, our foot traffic at the brewery has taken a big hit with the track and water main replacements at Gerard and Coxwell.
The next two months would be a pretty good time to stop by…

Interviewing Lee was a privilege, she shared her story of finding a sense of belonging as a First Nations woman for the first time in her life through an Indigenous Employee Circle in the federal public service. Please take a minute to read about her inspiring career path:
“Through Indigenous knowledge and wisdom, I learned to re-story my life and my approach to leadership.”

The storytelling campaign I worked on with Indigenous people working at the Government of Canada is in full swing -- in this story, students, including Camille share their advice for getting a student job in the #GC. #indigenousrecruitment
Camille, a Métis student at @umanitoba chose to self-declare when applying to #FSWEP. As some jobs are only open to Indigenous candidates, self-declaring ensures that you’ll be considered for these opportunities.

So happy to share a new storytelling project I worked on to share experiences of some of my Indigenous colleagues in the federal public service. Read their stories and find job opportunities for Indigenous people here:
“Perseverance” comes to mind when reading Anteia’s story. She didn’t give up when applying to #FSWEP, and neither should you!

If you're in Canada & you've received an email from the CCBA about an "urgent" call to action, it's about my experience at the CBC & I did NOT sign off on the letter.
I'm upset that they decided to whitewash my experience and use it as an opportunity to push their programs.
A Pulitzer & a Peabody!! What an unbelievable 2 days! This feels like undeniable proof that Indigenous stories matter & that we should support Indigenous people to tell them. We are so grateful to survivors who shared with us & hope this means more people will hear their voices.
