The reason men explain a lot of things to women is that in general knowledge tests men outperform women in almost every category.
The reason men know more general knowledge is they find it interesting when something is explained to them, not condescending.
Mansplaining isn’t about a man simply explaining something to a woman, it’s about explaining with an obvious tone of condescension because he assumes she must not know things due to being a woman; and I know that men understand the difference because they seethe when women talk to them like a schoolteacher talks to a student. Men very much know what disrespect sounds like, they just can’t fathom that women also care about this
