building luca 003 one thing i wanted with this rebuild was for luca to stop living on my Mac. the previous versions were built around an agent framework, and every time i tried rebuilding luca into what it is now, it felt like i was carrying pieces of the old agent with me. i didn’t want that anymore. i wanted luca to have its own codebase, its own infrastructure and eventually be something anyone can clone, run and contribute to. today luca is running independently on its own server. the telegram bot is running. the core API is running. the worker handling sync, classification, alerts and briefs is running. all 24/7 without my laptop being open. still a lot to figure out, especially around making it properly open source. but Luca finally feels like it has its own home.

they finally understood what users actually want. I’ve tried other products for coding, but I always find myself coming back to Claude. partly because I understand how to work with it much better. knowing what your users use you for and optimizing cost + efficiency around that will always stand out.

building luca 002 i fell into the trend trap too. seeing new narratives, new products, watching what worked for someone else and thinking maybe i should build around that too. somewhere in all that noise, i stopped working on Luca. funny thing is, the core idea was already there. i just hadn’t understood the problem deeply enough. so this month i didn’t build Luca. i watched. i tried to understand what i actually needed as an operator, and one thing became obvious: i don’t need another place to go check my finances. i need something that knows my financial context and comes to me when something matters. that’s what brought me back to Luca, but with a much clearer direction. sometimes the answer isn’t the next trend. sometimes you just haven’t gone deep enough on what you already have.

building luca 001 i don’t think Luca needs another dashboard. most financial products make you go somewhere to understand what’s happening with your money. Luca should do the opposite. it should come to you. if something changes, tell me. if something needs my attention, tell me. if everything is fine, leave me alone. maybe the best interface for an agent is no interface at all.

I’m becoming more bullish on vertical AI agents. not an agent that can “do everything.” one agent, one domain, one job it becomes extremely good at. rebuilding Luca made this much clearer to me. instead of being a broad financial analyst for the agent economy, Luca now has one job: be your financial employee on-chain. watch the wallets. keep the books. understand transactions. remember corrections. tell you when something matters. I think this is where a lot of useful agents will be built. go narrow, own the workflow, become really fucking good at it.

gm been quiet on Luca for a while, but we’ve been rebuilding it properly. the direction is much clearer now: Luca is becoming your financial employee on-chain. it watches your wallets, keeps your books, classifies transactions, remembers corrections, alerts you when something matters and gives you financial briefs. we’ve also been cleaning up everything around the product again - new website, Bankr page, DEX profile, Telegram + branding. still a lot to test with real users, but Luca is slowly coming back to life. askluca.xyz⁠ brick by brick 🧱

I think some of the next unicorns will be built inside chats. not another app asking you to download, sign up and learn a new interface. WhatsApp. Telegram. iMessage. people already live there every day. build the infrastructure in the background and let chat become the interface. finance, commerce, business operations, agents… there’s so much that could work this way. maybe the next big consumer interface isn’t another app. thoughts?
