LinkedIn is such trash because whenever I post something, the only replies are from AI agent bot swarms

In 2023, I was working on a startup idea that was 2 years to early We were building an AI-powered service that would hand tune custom LLMs for businesses I pitched it, but didn't get many good reactions, because we looked too much like a service and not like a product We were 2 years too early to the idea of "AI run services businesses", which VCs now love If we stuck it out, we would've had to survive most of 2024 and 2025 when it was a bad idea to tune your own models But now open weights models are back! Obviously, we aren't working on this anymore, but I still really believe in a sovereign future for AI This means you should be able to run open models, and choose the hardware where inference runs and where you agent harness runs I can't fathom a world where tech as fundamental as the computer is constrained to just the big labs and some sandboxes rented from a cloud provider. Every type of runtime configuration must be possible. IMO we're still in the mainframe era of AI, and we're collectively figuring out how to cross the chasm to the "personal computer" phase and then the hybrid personal + cloud

I can't help but feel that "agent durability" is more complicated than it should be and that the simpler solution is something closer to the OS level Like, just checkpoint the filesystem? And extend the normal OS process into an "agentic process" that also holds agent session

Lord help me, I want to hack the shit out of the VMs that @amikadev provisions to support this idea

Whenever I record a demo video, I end up yapping too long Anyways, this week we're launching something new for amika It connects all your computers into a private sandbox cloud network for your agents Turn that extra Mac Mini into a sandbox runtime! amika.dev/waitlist
What if Tailscale and Firecracker had a baby? What if that's what we're building at amika.dev?

if you book a demo with me to sell your product, I WILL NEVER BUY FROM YOU

the frequency with which claude code oauth logs me out across machines is criminal makes me pull my hair out when coding on my local computer and a cloud devbox

Every AI agent should be able to migrate between local and cloud environments I should keep the same session, but move the machine it works on, and transport its filesystem with it This shouldn't be a per-harness feature. It should be implemented in the operating system

I'm bundling a few concepts here: 1. the agent session becomes an OS-level primitive, similar to a process 2. migrating processes, sessions, and filesystems across remote machines 3. the abstraction that bundles agent session, processes, and files into one virtual unit Prior operating systems (Plan 9, etc.) had distributed filesystems. Process migration is substantially newer. And the idea of an "agent session" as an operating system primitive is basically brand new

If you represent the bundled (agent-session, processes, files) as a VM, then the migration becomes easier And you also get really strong isolation of the agent

Where else do people read and post about tech stuff? I'm trying to up my social media game and find other good places to yap and learn about agents, infra, all that

small thing that CLI agent UIs do better: I can open my prompt up in neovim

I prefer this cursed character for my agents
pretty interesting that the category is converging on the same visual grammar almost comically fast too. you’ve got a blob, a face, some “eyes”, you gotta give it some soft geometry, add in some emotions via animations, & of course a very friendly affect.

the network is the sandbox

personal agent space is the new startup battlegrounds I wonder what new startup category we're going to memetically swarm next

Gonna write two posts on cloud agents. 1) Compare the sandbox tech: Firecracker, containers, libkrun, Kata containers, gvisor, bubblewrap, etc 2) networking: Wireguard, Iroh, STUN + TURN servers, QUIC, TCP, UDP, relay nodes, WebRTC Any other sandbox or network tech to cover?

BTW we're building something pretty cool at the intersection of agent sandboxes and networking amika.dev/waitlist
What if Tailscale and Firecracker had a baby? What if that's what we're building at amika.dev?

It's not enough to create a sandbox for your agent Sometimes you need to inject the agent into an existing computer For example, you have a 50GB media file in your data processing pipeline. If it fails to process, you can't transfer it somewhere for your agent. Egress costs too high If you put the agent on the computer with the file, you can debug much more easily Another option is give the agent access to the other machine as a tool call. Then the agent can debug remotely, without moving any files
