Yoh I just remembered the days when the last day of school meant that all of us from different schools gather at the Workshop Bus terminals just nje because we can…. We looked forward to it and as kids we still felt safe enough to walk around and enjoy being in town but now the Dbn CBD is something completely different, there are informal shops owned by strangers that we don’t even know how they got them! We are not safe at all…
They employ people but pay them peanuts, they sells goods who’s safety standards we don’t even know neither is it even regulated, everyday we are seeing less and less formal shops that actually bring some investment into the country instead of selling illicit goods. But somehow this is something we should be celebrating and be happy that our CBD is deteriorating because of a government that fears enforcing its own laws to foreigners??
I really hope that real and proper businesses especially those that are losing our because of the illicit goods market will for a change speak up against the losses they face because of the black market that’s now thriving in this country from poor border control and the courts in South Africa allowing economic migrants to be disguised as “asylum seekers or refugees” and continue to exploit and ruin our country!!!
