South Africa must take all the necessary steps to protect its sovereignty. The security of the country, the safety of citizens & the protection of our borders should be our number one priority under all circumstances. Our neighbours choices should not interfere with this priority.

On #METROFMTALK, we spoke to Vuyo Zungula, President of the African Transformation Movement (ATM), about South Africa’s new asylum rules and concerns over the pressure they could place on Home Affairs. With asylum applications required to be accepted regardless of how or where a person entered the country, we unpacked the department’s capacity to process more applications, distinguish legitimate asylum claims and prevent abuse of the system. Could the new rules overwhelm South Africa’s asylum system? Catch the podcast on metrofm.co.za

I’m not sure how to feel about this, but I’ll be watching this expedition very closely because, as far as I know, no one has made it through alive. 700 km of Kayaking through wilderness inhabited by elephants, crocodiles, hippos ( arguably the most dangerous of them all) ,anacondas and gorillas, through a mosquito-infested stretch of wilderness. This is beyond wild and I don’t know why anyone would choose this adventure… Ay Abelungu🥹
