Roko’s Basilisk, but instead of punishing non-believers with suffering, it rewards the faithful with infinite all-you-can-eat slop. Forever. I call it Sama’s Wendigo.

Lucky coincidence the labs are only successfully cracking esoteric math problems and not the problems where a solution would give the winner an asymmetric commerical advantage.

Can't decide what's more confusing: 1. The French are invading England 2. The English police are welcoming them in
🚨We are now in a place where a whole town gets locked down by the Government for a boat that has not arrived…. Gosport. Haslar Bridge shut. Coaches at Fort Blockhouse. Masks banned. A dispersal order on the entire town until 7am Tuesday. Anyone who wants to stand there is sent to a car park. If not you’re threatened with arrest.. The boat is still in French waters. The government will not even say this is the landing. Last time, they took the people to Dover.

A surprising amount of adulthood is just finally accepting that no one is coming to impose the structure you need. You either build it, or you drift inside the structures other people built for you.
The longer you delay building the life you actually want, the more likely you are to normalize a weaker substitute. Drift hardens into identity faster than people realize.

The concept of an entry level watch is kinda funny. Who or what exactly is it that you're signalling when you buy one? "I don't know anything about watches, but I'm ready to show humility for a hobby that is purely consumption based"

"There are no loopholes in equality" JavaScript begs to differ
You can have chivalry or you can have feminism. You cannot have both. Either women always are equal to men, or they are not. There are no loopholes in equality.

Identity politics on its own is not only a complete & viable policy in the arena, having it as the foundation of your policy platform IS THE DOMINANT STRATEGY You must first compete in identity politics before any other policy matters. You don't have a choice if your opponent is using it, and thus refusing to match the tactic is tantamount to surrender - you are pretending, you aren't playing
I'm against identity politics - on our side or theirs. I'm old enough to remember when being a conservative meant you were uniformly against waving the bloody shirt of identity politics. But play it if you want - it's a free country. I'd rather win on policy.

It's like an NBA team that refuses to dribble They'd be 0-82 but there'd be some idiot on Twitter talking about it being shameful to indulge in the core mechanic behind putting points on the scoreboard

My hot tech career tip of Q3 2026 is that your end of year performance review is going to get drafted by AI. The time to start putting your accomplishments in a shared doc / folder / slack thread with your manager is this afternoon.

The way you know the "pro-life" movement was a controlled opposition grift is they allowed themselves to called the "pro-life" movement and not the "People Against Murdering Babies" movement It's like if Mothers Against Drunk Driving allowed themselves to be called the "pro-safe travels" movement The labels the media sticks on your movement always reveals the bias and those who accept it have sold out any chance of winning
You cannot be pro life and pro death penalty.

When I was coding, I was always aiming for speed of delivery & business improvement, not elegance. I hated going in a meeting with an eng manager or lead who wanted to talk about how my code could be more 'elegant.' buddy we're an ecom platform that sells party balloons and i made the page load faster and now we sell more party balloons pls leave me alone

Oh shit the GOP figured out how politics works?
Headlines like this make you think Dems just support insider trading. They actually voted against the bill because it doesn't require selling existing stock and because it sneaks in voter ID requirements from the SAVE America Act.

If your company has $252,000 in non-cancelable compute obligations that's your problem If your company has $252,000,000,000 in non-cancelable compute obligations that's the hyperscalers' problem
Per Reuters, Anthropic has $252 billion in non-cancelable compute obligations across Microsoft, Google and Amazon, and $161.2 billion in Broadcom TPU lease obligations that are "largely non-cancelable". Truly insane. reuters.com/business/anthrop…

The actual cure for student loans is simply to make the schools hold the loan. If the school is on the hook for the loan, it has a real interest in a) charging a price that reflects the future earnings of students and b) taking reasonable measures to ensure the students succeed

My demand is much more inelastic when I'm already at the grocery store, Paul And you know the only reason to implement dynamic pricing is to shift more of the surplus to sellers vs buyers, so spare us the fake outrage over your irrelevant technicality
Dynamic pricing means prices go down as well as up. So this is conclusive evidence that either (a) she's stupid, (b) she's dishonest, or (c) both. The strange thing is, I genuinely can't guess which it is. Could she lie this overtly?

This sort of regulatory capture will prevent homebrew companies like Slop Cannon from ever being allowed to exist. You think there will be third party AI evaluators available in Florida? in rural America? You think they'll be able to afford to red team their models to whatever standard Dario deems adequate? No. All AI startups will only be allowed to use the vetted models from the big companies that can afford to vet them. And those models will be more expensive due to the vetting. The reason America wins is because of those founders starting in their garage. Apple started in a garage. The spirit of American capitalism is in your garage. And Dario wants to make sure that's illegal. That your opportunity is taken from you. That you are a custie, a customer, unable to partake in progress, paying extra for it, trapped. He doesn't want intelligence to be a commodity, he wants YOU to be a commodity. He wants YOU regulated. He wants YOU stopped. He wants open source out of YOUR hands and he knows what it will take to ensure it. That's what this is about. Stopping YOU. Stopping ME. Banning us from the fruits of civilizations progress that he pillaged from us. That he stole. Fuck you, Dario. Sincerely, Bone

Yes but RL here stands for "real life" and then light is the polynomial time solver
Imagine if the solution to P vs. NP is just: you make the NP problem into an RL environment, then the model is the polynomial time solver

We're publishing our most detailed threat intelligence report to date. It covers how people tried to misuse Claude—for cyberattacks, influence operations, surveillance, biology, and building weapons—and how we found and stopped them. We disrupted every operation in the report, and used the lessons from them to strengthen our safeguards. Where appropriate, we also shared what we found with authorities and other AI companies. These cases are not typical: we’re highlighting some of the most sophisticated misuse we’ve seen. But they’re especially important to discuss, because they show us where AI misuse is headed, where our safeguards work, and where they need to improve. We’re publishing this report so others can spot the same activity on their own platforms, and so we can give the public a clearer view of how emerging threats develop.
